tubejuice attenuators?

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

Curious - did you ever try these or find more info? I just found them today and was quite interested. I actually find them much cheaper than other attens.

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

you have my attention.. I need an attenuator badly , but cost is an issue.

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

Never heard of them. But I just ordered a "Power Plug" attenuator off of Ebay yesterday for $80 shipped and hope to have it before my gig this weekend to tame my 80 watt Shiva head in the small club we're playing. I will give a report on it on Sunday after I've tested it live.

Someone order one of these Tubejuice deals and give us a report! Someone's gotta be a guinea pig... ;)

Kept putting me off too. Wanted a Dr. Z Airbrake, Weber Mass 150, or THD Hotplate. Will see how the Power Plug does. If it doesn't work-out I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. I'm thinking that the Dr. Z sounds to be the way to go.

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

I think I am going in with the hotplate...not sure how long it will take to get on though....

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

My concern with trying something like this, besides the cost, is concern that it may damage my amp. Ill blow a gasket if my amp gets ruined.

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

BloodRose you may be safer with something that doesn't have a resistant load, but rather a reactive load.

Attenuators from what I have been reading really aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

See: http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm

I may pick one of these up for the Tweaker when I get it <3

Re: tubejuice attenuators?

You can get a Weber in that price range, and the technology and tone are time-tested and proven.

If you don't think you like how attenuators sound, listen to some of kevlar3000's clips.

He uses a Weber attenuator on every video I posted.

And he has about the best rock tone I've ever heard in my life.

Whoever said attenuators killed tone have obviously never played a Weber.

I used to have one, and I loved it.
