flubbiness to me is a loose indistinct bottom end, like when you hit the low e string hard and you get no definition or focus to the note just a low frequency kinda rolling out of the speaker. a bad thing almost always.
You described it to a "T".

Re: Tubes, speakers and low end

I would say go with a EL34 amp loaded with EH 6CA7s, I just put a set in my Trace Speed Twin head and it sounds great. Very tight sounding power tube and it's a heavier duty tube than an EL34 so you get longer life.

I'll qualify that by saying I lean more toward Marshall voicings that Mesa/Fender and like the sound of EL34s better. The 6CA7s are kinda middle ground but biased a little more toward the British sound.

Re: Tubes, speakers and low end

I spent most of the afternoon today swapping speakers and such.............put the V-32 back to stock and I've got decent usable lowend without so much flubbiness. Now here is the kicker, I put the Wber in the JR and guess what.....it got flubby. The Weber must be for a really bright amp because it is voiced for a lot of lowend. Live & learn....Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
