I've gotta 3120 with el34s and play thrash/death/and just heavy metal like the sound I'm getting but looking to get some new tubes for it what do you guys suggest? And also has any one tried the e34l's?
Not a fan of the JJ's they sound alright but dont really excite me. I prefer the winged C for EL34's if not those then the mullard reissues or the EH's
I am a big fan of the E34L JJ or Groove Tubes. Everything I like about an EL34, but more. You want to contact Eurotubes to make sure your transformer is good to go as the E34L draws a slightly higher current and puts out 30 watts.
If you like the sunset strip type tone I guess the 6CA7 may work for you, they have a very un musical breakup in my experience, so if you like power tube distortion i found they sound horrible cranked. If you like to drive your power tubes into distortion, the winged c SED's are the best CP tube you'll get your mitts on. They absolutely crush all the other CP tubes I've tried in a Marshall. Lots of harmonics and the mids are just right.

The reason I like the standard EL34 is a nice midrange distortion. At higher volume the standard EL34 tubes can fart out with bass.
The JJ (or Groove Tube labeled JJ) E34L gives you additional headroom (20% according to JJ) which keeps the bass together longer while still giving up the goods in the midrange. I think that is why most people claim that they have a tighter bottom than standard EL34s.
