Tuners capable of tuning a 7 string in standard

I'm looking to get a tuner for my board, and i've run into an issue. ive owned a couple and used even more handheld tuners that tend to freak out on my low b, granted theyre not usually the best quality tuners. my low b is very clear since i have a 54 gauge string on a 27 inch scale guitar, its not buzzing and its not muddy at all.

i was looking at the polytunes since i know those can handle the B, but theyre another problem. they only have 6 lights for 6 strings :banghead:

so any other options? tu2/3?

thanks for any and all help

I know what you mean... 7 or 8 string axe is a pita to tune with a clip-on tuner. Korg Pitchblack or Polytune is a good way to go. Ofc Peterson Strobostomp is the best one if you can afford it.

id love the polytunes but i dont think they make a 7 string pedal version. ideally im looking for a stombox, and they have to be super accurate since i play in a melodeath band with another guitarist and when we do the carcass/at the gates harmonies a little out of tune sounds like garbage.

and id love a strobostomp but id be distracted by the pretty lights

Who cares if the polytune can't tune all 7 at once? It can still tune 6 at once, and that's 5 more than any other pedal :cool2:. Just tune the high 6, and then the bottom 7th.

its not so much tuning at once im concerned about, its being able to detect the low notes. its a floyd rose loaded guitar too so id like it to be able to pick up small changes in tuning with the fine tuners

I always hit the harmonic above the fifth fret.

That'll put you an octave or so higher (forgot the math on it) and you'll pick it up.

Any Boss or Korg tuner should pick it up.

2 octaves, actually:offtopic:

I don't know what pedal tuners handle low B. I know I had to adjust my TC G-major to a 7 string tuner mode. I had forgotten about the different tuner modes 'til I was playing my friend's Ibanez 7. The tuner just didn't seem to read well for any note below D. (I have been playing my 6 strings at Eb for quite a while and rarely tune any lower anymore.)

Re: Tuners capable of tuning a 7 string in standard

If you are tuning one string at a time, the Polytune should work fine. The poly feature comes in great in between songs for me for a quick tune check. I play 6-string though, not 7, but it should still do the job for you if you're not going to use the poly feature much. Take you guitar to a local shop that has it and try it out.

12th fret harmonic. My old Korg tuner reads it just fine that way.

Re: Tuners capable of tuning a 7 string in standard

im using my korg pandora from years ago now for tuning, and korg seems to do a great job. any word on korg pitchblacks for this low?

Re: Tuners capable of tuning a 7 string in standard

Hmm, my plain Hardwire tuner picks up a low B, no problem. I don't remember having any problems with a TU-2 or a Planet Waves either. Regardless, 12th fret harmonic works too, as long as you're intonated correctly.
