Turn it up to 12!!!

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

Yup.

That's kinda standard.

The Pro Jr.'s and a few other amps go to 12 too.

One day I'll own an amp that goes to 15!

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

Can you imagine Nigel´s lines if this amp had been in production around the same time?

"To 12?? That´s just overkill, anything louder than 11 is too much":laugh2:

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

Have ya'll seen the Spinal Tap DVD?

With it's 2 hours of out-takes AND them doing commentary on the main movie in character it's like three movies in one!!!

:fart:

Highly recommened.

It's the reason I bought a DVD player several years back...

It pried me away from VHS. lol

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

"And its 12 across the board. 12, 12, 12" But yes, the old tweeds had everything go to twelve, treble, mids, bass, volume, everything. Dont ask me why, and dont ask me why Leo labeled his tremolo channel "vibrato." There are tons of little things like that in the early amp world.

BTW, weren't the Tweed amps gone by the end of '61? Maybe if you seen a '62 tweed it wouldnt be that wierd, but a '63? Or did the brown tolex "professional" line of amps only pertain to the bigger ones like the super, twin, concert etc around the time of 63? I gotta read my Fender amp book again...

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

yeah---the tweeds were all screened for '12', all controls.
and tweed Champs (being the bottom of the line model) were built after tweed was abandoned for the bigger amps, should have a black logo plate.
notice what looks like a twist lock tube shield: 60's parts.

Yeah man the commentray is almost better than the movie itself!!

He got tremolo and vibrato mixed up at some point ... the wank bar on a Strat is called a tremolo. Maybe he named one wrong, and decided to make up for it by naming the other one wrong too. :laugh2:

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

you mean i'm going to have to change my username to these_go212? :)

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

. . . fwiw, the Blues Jr. goes to 12 too, not just the Pro Jr. !

Hold on, i am sure there is an amp, that goes to 20.
All the knobs, btw !
I'll try and see if i can remember what amp it is !
Somehting tell me it is a Brittish made boutique'ish amp !

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

I recall seeing a Marshall print ad with Nigel remarking on the fact that the amp in question went to 20. I forget what model it was, but it was a good ad (if a forgettable amp).

Re: Turn it up to 12!!!

Arent you talking about the drive channel gain on a JCM900? That went to 20.

Maybe it was the jcm900 master volumes, they have a pre-amp to 10 and a gain sensitivity all the way up to 20 on it.
