das nuthin, i dimed my valveking's clean channel then boosted it with a loud-assed OD when i bought it:naughty:

I feel bad for the people who don't have the everyday opportunity to dime their stacks out. The way I normally play in the house is around 5-7. When me and my pals get together I actually wear ear plugs.
Gotta love loud tube half stacks.

I turned my Pro Junior up to 12 today with a fuzz in front of it and it sounded huge.

RE: little five and ten watt amps.
I am a great believer in the sonic qualitites of smaller wattage amps.
But dont kid yourselves.....they sound nothing like a big wattage amp like a jcm or a tsl.
Sure they sound big, sure they sound dirty, sure they sound good - but there is just no substitute for the texture of a cranked el34 marshall sound.

I remember last friday when I had to crank my deluxe because the drummer was loud, and the amp just went "ROCK". the bassist turned around and smiled.

Get a 2x12 or 4x12 seriously! Then get an attenuator and save money for new power tubes every 6 months lol.
The best part of jamming with a band is when you get to crank up your amp once the drummer starts playing, then you remember why you bought it in the first place!

There's that point when you're just moving so much air around it just works and you can hold onto notes with such ease that you think you're cheating.
You just can't do that with a small amp.
Trust me. My little mesa express sounds ok in 5w mode, but it's better at full wap, and even then it's not as good as my 60w Ashdown with the power tubes a cookin
