Tuxedo good looks...

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
And evil metal sounds! Cadillac upgrade time.

I have finally replaced the stock dean pickups with a Duncan PG neck and Custom bridge. Gonna be a ROCKIN' New year!

Man - PG neck, Custom Bridge is just an all around fantastic hard rock set!

Those will always be Dean Elites to me.... When did they change the name to Cadillac, and why?

1977 or so. I first saw a real one in ‘82. “Elite” would be a Series I’d guess.

You'd guess wrong. When Dean brought out this shape, it was called the E'Lite.... I bought a sunburst one spanking new in the 80's. Had the V'd neck with cream binding. Played like a dream, sounded sweet and powerful. Played it for a couple years, then sold it to the one of the students at the store where I worked. Saw it 2 months later in a pawn shop with a badly smashed neck. Still regret not buying it....

This was a trivia question at the dean factor during DOA this year. My team did not win FYI....

My bad. I thought the fancy gold hardware and block inlays like the op’s picture denoted “the Cadillac”. Sorta like the Les Paul Custom was to the Les Paul.
