TV-Jones Classic Filter'Trons vs. Gretsch High Sensitive Filter'Trons.

I am looking at modifying a guitar To have Filter'Tron pick ups, in order to end up with a guitar with a sound similar to a Gretsch Panther. I notice many (if not most) high end Gretsch models have the High Sensitive Filter'Trons but have heard many good things about the Tv-Jones classic. So I am looking for opinions about what the tonal differences are and which ones might be the better sounding pick up. Thank you as always.

Can't speak to the comparison, but I really like every set of TVJones I have in my axes.

The Gretsch's are nice pups but TV Jones is where it is at for me.

I have fitted a set of HS Filtertrons in 3 guitars. A Telecaster type, a Washburn HB 35 semi hollowbody and an old style Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet. All owners were over the moon with the sound. I have never played a guitar that has had TV Jones pups so cannot say whether or not they offer more. Both pups have many fans and I am sure there is a good reason for this.

I seem to recollect that TV Jones are around twice the price of Filters but it may be that price is not a consideration.

No I am not too worried about the price difference, I am just looking for the best sound for me. I have heard the HS Filter'Trons in action but never the TV-Jones pick ups.

To my ears they sound more dynamic and better clarity at higher volumes.

FWIW Filtertron players that I know very much like playing with some sort of tone control by pass and rarely use the tone control on the actual guitar. Whether this is also relevant to Tv Jones pups,I do not know.
