Twang Pickups for G&L Legacy

Hi. I have a G&L Legacy (Tribute series) and I wanted to swap the pups out so I could get a good twang out of it.

Well a guy I met on another forum for G&L guitars, Mac, whom now I call friend, got me in touch with a lady named Maricela at Seymour Duncan's custom shop and she wound what I believe to be the best pickups I've ever heard!

I told her I wanted that 1970's Outlaws sound and she said she would talk to Seymour. I guess he must have known what I wanted because they absolutely nailed it! The only thing holding me back now is my playing ability, no more excuses LOL!

It's got more pronounced twang than any of the Fender Tele's I tried out, including Fender's best American Standard Deluxe Tele plus when I go to the neck pickup I'm getting tons of warm good rock tones!

I've been playing with my pickups for a few months now and I just can't believe the quality of sound I'm getting!
Mac suggested that I put a switch in that would engage the bridge pickup in any combination with the other pickups. I am very happy that I did do that.
While I loved the sound of the pickups without the switch on, they do sound great, but when I pull the switch it sounds even that much better!

What I don't understand is that with the switch on and I just put the bridge pickup on it sounds better than when I play the bridge pickup without the switch on. I literally have 10 different sounds from the 5 way pickup selector!

I've played PRS McCarty's, Fender American Deluxe Tele's (as I mentioned) and American Deluxe Strats, Les Pauls ect and these pickups make my G&L beat them all!

No matter what electric I've played they always need some help with the sound, reverb, chorus ect
But these pickups in my G&L can stand on their own with no effects at all.

I could play it straight and not need a darn thing to help them! They are beautiful!
(But I still need to play with the pedals! I can't help myself lol)

I have always favored humbuckers for their tonal qualities and liked single coils for their variety. In fact I have a set of Burstbucker Pro pickups on my Epiphone Studio and they are absolutely mouth wateringly good!

But now my main electric is this G&L with these new pups! You can't beat the sound or the variety.

The guitar tech who put them in for me is a guy who seems genuinely unimpressed with most anything. But when I gave him the set of pickups he was blown away how the magnetic field in the bridge pickup was more than the other 2 and had less ohms! He said it was normally opposite that with the more windings the higher the magnetic field.
He's not a twang guy either but he said he was impressed with the pups when I picked up my baby!

Before Mac steered me in the right direction I was at that same guitar shop and a salesman tried to sell me a Mexican Tele and it's twang was barely noticable. He said they were going to have a Fender sale and I could trade in my G&L. Well when they appraised my G&L they offered me $160 for it. I about gagged.
It's a real good thing I didn't do that, especially in light of what I currently have.

All in all for the pickups, a steel plate for the bridge pickup it was about $380. She gave me a real good deal.
Add the labor of the guy putting in my pups, the switch, setting the intonation and setting up the guitar (he did a real good job with the action!) it was about $472. Still less than a crappy Fender Mexican Tele.

Many thanks to Mac (burn't) and Maricela! They both are SUPER PEOPLE!

Literally my life long dream of a guitar that sounds like it does has been fulfilled when I never ever thought it could happen!

Thanks guys appreciate it. I guess I officially belong here now ;)

It's funny cause Mac told me to tell MJ that he sent me. He said they were really good friends like brother and sister.

So I tell her that Mac sent me. She said, "Oh, he's a looney didn't you know?" I'm like no. She says, "Oh he's king of the loonies. He's always calling me up with crazy stuff."

So I tell her I met Mac on a forum site and I was wondering just what exactly I got myself in for and she laughs and says, "Oh I thought you knew him. I'm joking! He's like a brother to me!"

I'm like: whew man what a sense of humor.

They both really are good people!

Mac, is a great guy! Whatever you do, don't let him near your guitars. Mac, likes to torch guitars.:scared: Have you seen his handy work?
