I don't think of the Twangbanger as giving a Strat a Tele tone.
But I do think of it as giving a Strat a thicker, beefier tone with less of the shrill treble of the average A5 Strat bridge pickup.
It's a good alternative.
I use a Fralin SP43 and prefer it to any other Strat bridge pickup I've owned.
But a Duncan SSL5 is also excellent and I might prefer it to the Twangbanger...especially with a tone control on the bridge pickup.
Putting a steel baseplate on a Strat pickup does beef it up ever so slightly. But not enough, IMO, to make a dramatic improvement.
