It's loaded with JJ 6L6's in the powertubes, Shuguang 9th gen in V2, V3, and the PI, and an old Mullard in V1.

The JB clip is sounding much better, as I made the 81 clip the day I got it, and hadn't tweaked it as much as I should have.

That said, this thing absolute LOVES passive pickups! I'm going to HAVE to keep this JB/Air Norton set around!

I think I like it more than the 5150 tones! Perhaps show off the cleans a little more?

allmost as tight as LOG is the first clip ,and needles to say ,the best riff ever you posted!Sounds waaaay better than the 5150 for my ears ,clear ,tight but still full!I think it slays any recto in bottom tightness and character!

The second one is not bad.Why not to try to play the same riff for a better comparison?

Think i have to agree, just sounds better than the 5150. Dont know how else to say it lol. I can hear that low end chug with the 81, I think it sounds a little better than the JB.

Thanks guys! I'm really ecstatic over this amp - this is simply the best recorded tone I've ever gotten, and it fits me so perfectly! The tightness and clarity of my old XXX, the midrange grind of the 5150, and a perfect, smooth top end, with more response and 'string tone' than I've ever had out of an amp! It's just an absolute pleasure to play!


I also remixed the 81 track with less "ghetto bass" (pitchshifted guitar), of which the JB track has none.


I plan on completing both of those songs (as well as the 3-4 other half complete ideas I have laying around), in addition to reamping all of my previous songs after I retrack them. I've been taking extra care to get my guitar tracks tighter than a gnats ass, and it's been showing!

So of the XXX, 5150, & JSX, the current fave is the JSX? I have to say I'm surprised, based on everything I've read about it. It'll be interesting to see if you stay in love with it.

funny you say that cause 3 seconds into the first clip, almost even in the first note i was saying to myself 'thats definately jeff' . killer tone as usual.

I always enjoy listening to your clips, man. Great riffs, and very tight. I'm not sure I recall your XXX days, but I remember some 5150 clips of yours, and I have to say I think this is my favorite tone of yours. Thanks for sharing. The track with the JB absolutely killed!

As soon as I find a vocalist, and I mean literally as soon as I do, he's tracking hiss ass off to complete 5-6 of the song's I've got, I'll do a final reamping, borrow a real bass, mix it, do a proper mastering job, and printing up a bunch of EP's and getting word out.

I've got a drummer and another guitarist... I'm just missing a bassist and vocalist .

Bad ass riffs and bad ass tone!!! Sounds awesome, very tight and the JSX is an unsung monster. I played a JSX, XXX and a Marshall TSL, all in a row and the JSX took the prize bigtime. As you know that amp can do so many things, great tone across the board-and you have definately figured it out! Nice work my friend.

I seriously, seriously need to do some more testing... might end up mixing them. I also really want to try an 85 again with this setup.


That said, the difference is so subtle, I'm not sure any of you will actually be able to tell the difference, especially on computer speakers.

the difference is clear ,the tihtness and lifeless sound of 81 is easy to hear i think.And needless to say ,the JB has more punch ,even it has less lows!

I just got a JSX, and it is just awesome, really good tones, really easy tio dial in as well, with all the channels usable.

Now I've heard the clips with the 808 in front, i may have to get me one!
