Two questions:

First, I finally decided on an SH-6 bridge pickup and installed it myself on Friday. Between the audio samples of pickups on this website and browsing through the forums, I was under the impression that the SH-6 was supposed to have a slightly overdriven sound even when the amp was clean. My pickup seems to have about the right amount of output, but no matter how hard I strum, it still sounds completely clean... Could adjusting the pickup height have something to do with that? Also, even though the wiring is fairly simple, could poor connections or incorrect connections be to blame?

My second question/scenario... First off, I have an Epiphone LP Custom. I was going to get the jazz pickup for the neck, but it seems to be pretty bright. I want something that's got a little warmth to it so that I can balance that SH-6 distortion for a well-rounded clean sound. But at the same time, I'm not exactly going to be playing much jazz or blues, so I don't want all warm tone. Does anyone have a suggestion on a happy medium for my guitar? Thanks in advance.

Matt

Re: Two questions:

This is one of the unfortunate sides of marketing, and pup naming. All pickups will be clean by themselves, (maybe actives would be an exception). My Distortion is one of my favorite "clean" pups. It just grinds real well when called on.
