Two Weeks with the Seth Lover set

. . . and I'm not going back to potted pickups, at least for low output pickups and PAF types

Guys I was afraid that since my house has a lot of interference that I'd get too much hum and buzz and possibly squeals, but no! It was quiet, but the pickups were more open and dynamic than anything I'd ever played

I even went to my friend at Rangka's and played it through his rig (below). Doesn't squeal unless I point the guitar directly into the speakers. To the left is a Mesa Atlantic and it didn't squeal through that either. I loved it. He loved it.

Some of my other friends complain about how it "lacks low end boom", but ah who cares! the midrange and highs are to die for in this pickup. I can't believe how far the Seths punch above their weight class (pricing). Truly amazing.

seths are some of the best duncan paf style pups for sure! potting doesnt help with messy wiring issues, just volume/gain related feedback. i have a set in a washburn wms and a few other guitars with a seth in one position or the other. they do their thing very well

I am a big fan of Seths and unpotted pickups. If you don't need metal-levels of preamp gain and your style depends on dynamics, they are fantastic (I like Antiquities, too).

Oh I was using them for actual metal songs during the jam hahahaha

They sound fantastic there too

I have a couple sets of unpotted pickups. A set of Seth's, and a set of Antiquities. Since I'm running ampless these days, there's no feedback issues. Even with high gain they can sound phenomenal.

I can appreciate that with unpotted piockups you can check to see if your pickups are producing any sound by tapping them with your fingers rather than a screwdriver.
