Types of Volume pot (nothing to do with value)

I need to replace my volume pot because its pretty old and getting quite noisy when I turn up and down.

Does it matter what kind of pot I buy? I'm talking about the make.

I know I want a 500k and I'm using it in single knob guitar, the subtleties of the rolled back tones are not so important to me, so all things considered does it matter?

Was just going to buy this (I am left handed btw).

There's alot of different types on here and its confusing me a little.

Have you tried cleaning your existing pot with contact/electronics cleaner? Might solve the noise issue.

Otherwise, that CTS pot should work fine. If you have a metric (non-USA) guitar, you may need to enlarge the hole on the guitar for the pot shaft slightly.

there is also the taper of the pot
linear, audio and I have heard of left handed audio taper

not sure about the lefthand version

I use linear on Volumes anyways
