sounds like hes got the AlT8 wound up way too high to the strings.
These "tones" are so not my thing, but I dug the FS, Invader, and the Dimebucker best.Too bad he could not have done it with the same guitar- because as we all know that can have a huge effect on tone regardless of pickup (as well as an effect on the quick pick attack)
At any rate- a very well done vid.

Agreed. Never heard an alt 8, but it had the timbre of being wired in parallel...
Anyway the Distortion was my favorite here!

I also dont love that the demos are done on axefx. I know its a great piece of kit that has convereted many from tube but I think tubes take PU's differently with more scope to let the PUthrough rather than all that processing

i love his videos but he just did the alternative 8 a huge injustice and alot of people could jump ship on ever wanting that pickup because of it. it was either too close to the strings or wired wrong. seymour if you send me a free alternative 8 will do my best to record that pickup in a new recording of mine which aint jack crap to ola's but ill try.
im thankful i have a distortion like pickups cause it does metal best for me.

I think the Custom is distinctly absent here. I don't think it's as tight as the ones featured, necessarily, but I definitely think it has a place in the metal world.
I really like the way he separates playing in a mix and outside of a mix. The before and after with the Dimebucker was particularly striking. And if I were to judge the Alternative 8 based on this clip alone, I would never buy one. It really sounded terrible.

I know its gotten a strange reaction from almost every post but if that Alt 8 was truly
wired in series I wouldn't give it a chance going off of that demo.....it almost sounds like
Ola is playing the riff with pick scrapes.
