ULTIMATE FORUM GUITAR: Fender Stratocasters - Prelims

Re: ULTIMATE FORUM GUITAR: Fender Stratocasters - Prelims

Wow - all the Fender dudes at the beach or something?

Re: ULTIMATE FORUM GUITAR: Fender Stratocasters - Prelims

The only thing I own that's Fender-branded are a strap and some picks.

[Edit:] And some cables. I've got a Koiled one, a Vintage Voltage, and the crazy Platinum one. And the FM100H (cheap solid-state head.)

1983 Strat Revised Edition. One of the last Strat models out of the Fullerton factory. All stock except pick guard & knobs. I bought it in 84 and other than a partscaster this has been my only Strat for almost 27 years.

This guys got the same guitar have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRVteM3kVsA

CS Dirty Dozen Strat, thin skin nitro, alder body, slightly underwound, hand wound by Abby vintage hots, s-1 switching, 12" radius, Soft V with a little chunk to the neck. Pickups are very versatile in all positions are useful yet very different from each other. The s-1 switching is nice, but all it really does is kick in the neck pickup(the bridge/neck combo is killer). Everything is bone stock from Fender

2007 Highway One,finish buffed to gloss, Callaham bridge, BKP Apache pickups, no-load master tone, Sprague Vitamin Q cap CTS pots, yadda yadda. My number two Strat, can't enter my old 69 relic because it's had the original finish stripped off.

Re: ULTIMATE FORUM GUITAR: Fender Stratocasters - Prelims

My only completely stock "Fender Strat" - staying within the rules..

USA Fender Vintage Hot Rod 62 Stratocaster
- "C" shaped neck
- "Thin-Skin" nitrocellulose lacquer finish
- American Vintage Strat pickups
- The thumb smudge in the upper horn is for Jesse's benefit, not stock

It has a beautiful flame/tiger figuring in the maple neck

I guess I will since Jolly actually threw one in the ring....

She's a 94-95 American standard with Surfers in the neck and middle...a tapped SSL-6 resides in the bridge.

She is wired with a superswitch...

bridge
bridge & middle
bridge & neck
Neck & middle
neck

The bridge pup is wired to the last tone control, which is a push-pull for the tap on that pup.

Hey Crusty - I really dig the Tortoise PG against the finish on this one, very classy.. and the large headstock adds mojo :friday:

1968 Fender Stratocaster, bought second hand in 1981. Original pickups replaced in '87 with Seymour Duncan SSL-1 (n), SSL-1 RW/RP (m) and SSL-5 (b). Tuners replaced with Schallers in '81. 3 refrets in 30 years, graphite string posts in '87, several bone nuts, currently with Callaham saddles. 2nd tone control converted to a switch for the bridge pickup, adding the neck/bridge and all three pickup combinations.

Veteran of over 5,000 gigs. Played for a couple of songs by the late, great Jeff Healey. A lifelong friend, teacher and companion, this guitar credits itself with the majority of my achievements as a musician. Somewhat of a Diva, affectionately known as the "Old Dear."

Cheers..................................... wahwah

Wahwah's Strat is simply hands down the coolest thing around. Nothing else can come close to touching that on this forum, regardless of guitar style.

Here's my '56 RI custom shop Mary Kaye stock finished Fender strat (ash body). I installed a Suhr BPSSC noiseless system in it and it has Duncan SSL-2s in the neck and middle and an APST-1 in the bridge. It's noise free and has some nice punch and sparkle to it:

And now you know why Wahwah's is the unquestionable winner.

No matter how we might like our strats no other can come close to this old beast :)

Re: ULTIMATE FORUM GUITAR: Fender Stratocasters - Prelims

here's my current favorite. its a 2007 MIM, oly white. i changed the pick guard to a mint one. vintage tuners. its currently sporting a warmoth neck, but the factory neck is rosewood too.

pickups are SSL-1 neck, SSL-5 bridge and a Fralin blues special in the middle (its basically just filling that hole)

i usually like the oly whites when they are really reliced, but this one just looks nice and new....
