That is what i read too.
The evolution of the very 1st 5150 is a highly modded JCM800. Just like the SLO is a hot rod'ed 800, but in a diff direction.

I still want one of these.. I played one years ago and loved that phat gooey tone. I thought it would be alil too much a one trick pony, but Ive heard a pretty good variety of tones on them over the years. I dig that Black Stone Cherry clip.. Anxious to get your thoughts after the gig!

I've always been a low gain amp kinda guy, I went years playing solid state clean amps, and the furthest I ever went into crunch territory was the AC30 with overdrive or a treble boost..
And the 5150 is still one of my dream amps, the gain character on it is just so cool and versatile. I recently did a gig where we played some Hendrix tunes along with our normal soul and funk stuff, and the club happened to have a 5150 head around, I pretty much immediately fell in love during soundcheck.
