An AFFINITY Squire for $300... or a MIM for $440? Those MIM Strats were selling for 400 new a couple of years ago. I have rarely seen a fair price in a pawn shop. They are often charging new prices for used and abused guitars.
I've won a couple of American Made Highway One Strats for around 400 on Ebay.
If you want to buy a cheap affinity strat for around a hundred and see if its worth investing more work into just do it. You can get most of your money back out of it if you don't beat it up.
