I didn't want to start another thread, and I'm just making sure I am getting the best I can with my money...
What cabs does SDUGF suggest for fast Metal? Nice bass presence, no rumbling bass [should be able to respond well to gallops/tremelo picking, chugging, etc.], well voiced mids, and no harsh treble frequencies.
Also, are Celestions made in China now or what? I can't really find much of an answer on that...

Yes.
Celestions ARE indeed made in China now... how that's affected things I dunno. All the speakers I have range from 10-15 years ago and were made in England.
Lots of great stuff out there... the Randall George Lynch half-stack was pretty bad-ass. Didn't care too much for the standard Randall modular head... but I'd really like to try the Lynch speakers on their own at some point...

Totally. That seems like a really good idea to me. My DSL was an absolute nightmare for doing that. Sounded like absolute crap when I switched from dirty to clean, you just get this huge distorted reverby mess. I've stuck with single channel amps ever since!
As for high gain, the features on the VHT aren't all that complicated, just turn them on and off and see what difference it makes. I'm a fan of the VHT stuff, especially the Pittbull. Thunderous.

Soooooo......how was the CAE OD-100?
What modules did you try with the Lynch half stack? I assume they were the lynch ones and that is also one reason why it sounded better than the regular MTS series.

Yeah, it's pretty tried and tested, I've see all sorts of bands make them sound good.

the way i look at it is the same way i look at pickups. its better to have a pup that gets great clean tone, cause theres all sort of pedals and what not to eventually get what you need. but if youre playing a bc rich with dimebuckers, good luck getting anything other than a decent metal tone. sme goes for amps. what i did is buy an old BF bassman and if i ever want to get heavy i throw my mesa v-twin in front of it. :bling:

Get any amp, be tube or solid state, that has that coveted metal "pick attack" thick crunch. Then get a sweet parametric EQ and put said EQ in the loop and shape your own tone. Then, my friend, you will have any amp tone you want. $.02.:friday:

I was already thinking of putting an EQ in the loop for a solid boost for solos [it'd just attenuate certain frequencies rather than shape it drastically].
I was thinking perhaps an EQ in front of the amp might be good as well [like an MXR 10 band or Boss 7 band].
Also, I may want a TS-9, Morley Kiko Loureiro Wah/OD/Vol, or a Crybaby from Hell. It would be great before or after the Boss or MXR for solos, to add Wah, a touch more OD, both, or in the case of the Morley, just pedalling back so I don't have to ride the vol. all the time.
Most amps AFAIK have the tone stack [EQ] after the preamp, so this would allow me to shape:
The before [Boss or MXR 7 or 10 band in front, plus it'd get a pickup that's 96-99% there 100% there]
The after [amp's tone stack]
And then solo boost.

You can get a Soldano for around the price you're looking at. I've got this head, it's got great tone, but it's extremely basic for the price. Another downside is the FX loop is made for rack effects only unless you mod it.
