After years of trying, I found a near mint condition set of sh9's.
No, not a typo.
I found them on reverb.com for $130 . Total.... How could I pass that? I plan on building a guitar around them. A Les Paul: ash body (carved), purpleheart neck, ebony fretboard 24 frets, 25.5" scale. Hipshot tuners and Gotoh trem.
I'm 99% sure these are legit. The baseplate, logos on the bobbins, logo on the bottom, the wire, the tape as well as the paper tape (I gently pushed aside the cloth tape,no damages done by me) are all as they should be. Only difference are the legs. The little tabs were altered at one point to accommodate an odd routing I guess.. however, the length and width are SD-correct. Ergo... These are no counterfeit.
