Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

What's everyone's opinion on the Dunlop Univibe RI? Is it any good? Is it good enough?

I'm also checking out the Sweet Sounds Mojo Vibe, but it'll cost me about $50US more than the Univibe (plus shipping and duties, which could add another $50-$100 on top of that). Plus, I'd need an expression pedal for it (the Univibe I'm looking at comes with one for just over $250US), which would add on another $90US for an Ernie Ball JR.....

So, I know the Mojo Vibe is considered the best vibe pedal around right now, but is it $190-$240US better?

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

I haven't tried the Dunlop, but I assume it's crap compared to these other botique clones. :laugh2:

I have tried the gold Fulltone Deja-Vibe, the new Custom Shop Stereo Fulltone Vibe, and the Mojo Vibe. Honestly, I hated the Mojo Vibe...it just wasn't as creamy and full of tone as the Fulltone...I highly recommend that pedal (mini Deja'Vibe).

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

Now's a good time to ask a question... what's up with all these "Vibe" pedals? What sounds do these things get that makes them so much more expensive. For example, the difference between the Uni-vibe chorus sound versus a Small Clone's chorus sound. Whats the difference?

Click on the little speaker icon beside the pedal name.

In this case, a sound clip is much easier than 1000 words.

The Dunlop may be crap, but I'd like to know why....

I have a few Dunlop/MXR things that suck, but I also have others that rock too....

Does the Fulltone Deja Vibe have expression control? I heard that it doesn't, but the guy who told me said he could be wrong.

I know the Deja 2 has a built in expression, but that would make it more difficult to rack mount in a switchers loop....

I've heard some things... :laugh2: ...that's all I can say. Build quality/reliability issues and such.

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

Do you still have that gold Fulltone I sold you, MRID? Sometimes, I wish I hadn't sold that one. The Fulltone vibes are great. For low dollars, I still really like the Voodoo Lab Microvibe. Takes a lot less space, too. The Dunlop never impressed me much.

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

all i have read about the voodoo lab Micro Vibe has been that is very good for the money....and it cost less than some of the others....... id say that is the way to go if you dont have enough cash for the Fulltone

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

So whats the typical price for one of these Fulltone vibes or the Voodoo labs vibe?

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

I haven't used a Deja-Vibe or Uni-Vibe, but I do use a Micro-Vibe by Voodoo Labs and it sounds good to my ears. I wanted to be able to recreate a sound as close as I could to the 'vibe effects used by Hendrix and Trower, and I've been able to do that with the Micro-Vibe. There's even a trim-pot on the interior circuit board that is used to adjust the modulation output of the pedal.
Just my $.02.

Dunlop Univibe RI - $344.98 list (I've heard they go for around $230 street. I'm can get both the Vibe and the expression pedal for $250, which is why I'm asking all these questions)
Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe - $299
Fulltone Deja Vibe - $275
Fulltone Deja'2 - $325

Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe, Roger Mayer Voodoovibe, MJM 60's Vibe - not sure

Unfortunately, no. :smack:

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

I own a dunlop and the Micro Vibe, which I got after seeing Scott_F say it was a good pedal.

The dunlop is built well. The Micro Vibe sounds good. Take your pick.

look at some of the reviews, say on harmony central ... the Dunlop pedal is not a sonic recreation of the original UniVibe, which was not a chorus as we think of it, but rather a simulation of a Leslie rotating speaker .... a chorus thickens the original signal with a signal that's detuned slightly, while the Univibe tried to catch the swirling doppler effect of a Leslie

and, no, the MV doesn't have an expression pedal hook up

voodoo labs should have some sound samples, btw

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

I forgot to mention I had a Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe as well (sold it real fast, though! :laugh2: ). It's just not in the same league as Fulltone. I consider myself a vibe connaisseur, and I was just not happy with anything but the Fulltone vibe.

Re: Univibe? Mojo Vibe? Micro Vibe?

Too bad you sold that gold Fulltone....That thing would sound unreal with the Shiva and a strat.
