Unveiling of my new Ultimate Marshall Fender rig!!!

Re: Unveiling of my new Ultimate Marshall Fender rig!!!

So far, I like the Barber LTD silver, Klon, Marshall Gov'nor II, and Way Huge Green Rhino into the JCM800. All of them sound great into it.

tried a boss super od yet? is one of the above a TS circuit? that needs to be tried too. I must hear this thang.

And Virtual Kevorkian is right about Celestion having some great speakers in their lineup these days. The Lynchback is pretty intriguing too, being kind of chunky and bassier. If I ever run across one on Craigslist, I'll grab it. I have a short list of speakers I'd buy immediately on the used market.

The LB is seriously cool, perfect cross between a GB and V30. My friend Adam posted a comparison on another forum, really cool to hear: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/10693317-post4.html

Yeah, Tubescreamers have a way of melding with Marshall gain that really works. The two I have are the Green Rhino and the T Rex Moller. Honestly, JCM800's take pedals so well that it almost doesn't matter what you use.

I've got a 2/x12 loaded with Lynchbacks and I love them. Great speakers. I use them with Marshall and Fender amps. They have some of the GB character but much better low end definition (to my ears anyway). I use them for clean, crunch and hi gain tones and they can do it all.

Re: Unveiling of my new Ultimate Marshall Fender rig!!!

That is similar to a setup I used in the 80s, though not nearly as good sounding. 82 JCM800 with 4x12 (65s), and 1967 Fender Deluxe. Used a home made amp switcher to go from Marshall to Fender. Eventually lost my mind and sold the Marshall....then the Fender. Those amps of yours are killer. Can't wait to hear clips of both, but especially that Marshall. Congratulations on two great purchases and on making that Marshall look like new! Its funny how just a little bit of work can make something look like new. Have a Hughes and Kettner Triamp cab, I think one of the original ones, where the metal grill was slightly rusted and had some stains from the previous owner. A little sandpaper and spray paint and it looks killer again. About fifteen minutes of work altogether. You are a great reminder that once in awhile we need to get off our duffs and fix stuff.

Re: Unveiling of my new Ultimate Marshall Fender rig!!!

OK, I've spent the whole day with the amp in it's completion. This morning, I went to my storage unit and threw the G12T-75's that came with the JCM800 into a Jubilee cab, and raided one of my early 90's Vintage 30's from it.
I just keep the Jubilee cabs as investments anyway. I've got other cabs I actually use....Bogner, 1960AHW, etc.

So now, the completely dialed in amp has an old broken in V30 and the Creamback 65. It looks and sounds so stunning. I just know it's the most perfect example of a JCM800 in all it's glory. I spent the whole afternoon cranking it, and it's a definite lifetime keeper. The touch responsiveness with it's tremendous power reserve is something that's true bliss to play through. If you pick softly, it's big bubbly and clean. As you increase the power of your right hand picking, the amp bulks up and unleashes the most beautiful Marshall gain.

I can't wait to get it into a studio where I can mic both speakers, add a room mic several feet away, and try to get it sounding the way it does in the room onto tape. It's pure Bad Co, The Cult, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Scorpions, to Zakk Wylde. Those 4 6550's pounding a V30 and Creamback really brings a wall of tone......and being down low to the ground, it doesn't hit you in the ear like the top two speakers of a 412 cab.

Ayrton, do you have any pics of your cool colored Marshall collection?

I'm curious to know which OD pedals you like with them. I think I get the best highgain solo tone on the JCM 800 with the Way Huge Green Rhino. The Barber LTD, Marshall Gov'nor II+, and Klon work great with it too.

Cool amps. Good to see someone who's been around the block a few times get this excited over new gear again.

FWIW, I favoured the M in that clip. The H sounded its best when pushed, but as the guitarist backed off it sounded bland and boring. Conversely, the M compressed a bit more than I'd like when pushed hard but sounded sweeter throughout the range of overdrive.

I had no real interest in the M-65s before today, but as of now I'd like to get my hands on one (or four).

Finally. Been waiting to see this ever since you PM'd me about it. That is really sweet. Great job on cleaning it up. It looks brand new in those pics. I'm sure your neighbors love you. And by that I mean everyone within a 3 block radius. LOL

Re: Unveiling of my new Ultimate Marshall Fender rig!!!

I think you need to consider getting a Leslie cab. I know you have a Lex, but that can't cut it for you anymore. You've entered a category of gear addiction that few of us here will ever reach. From now on, you need to ask yourself one question - What Would Warren Haynes Do?

A mint 87 Jubilee 2550 and 84 4103 for your viewing pleasure (sorry, it's just quick shots not a real photo shoot)

Not many flawless examples of these out there.

Pics, sure...

I don't really run any overdrives with the superleads, and I am still kicking myself for passing on a JCM800 half stack a couple years back. I just didn't think I needed it with what I had.

That being said, I prefer my old Boss over drive or a TS in front of a MV Marshall.

I did pick up another '73 Superlead over the summer, and I still have to send my JTM45RI out to Dave for some work. I just have been slack on the guitar stuff for some time now.

Fixed!! Gonna tell you something Ive never told another guy... Sure a nice pair you have!! haha Seriously, two great scores! The cleanup job on the JCM is amazing! I need to clean mine up. The/or one of the previous owners of my JCM800 head wrote his name on it in black marker or something. Think shoe polish would cover that? Ive not been able to remove it with anything. My local GC had a JCM800 combo not long ago that Id like to have scored.
