UOA5 in Pearly Gates Bridge & Phat Cat

I've heard a ton of good things here about the UOA5 magnets. Tried them in a Pearly Gates and Phat Combo...wow!

The tone is the about the same in Pearly Gates BUT it has a more power to it and doesn't sound thin at all anymore. The harmonics jump out a whole lot more now too–nice bonus!

The Phat Cat with 2 UOA5s is a killer pickup! In regards to tone, it changed the most out of the two (I can understand why people say the UOA5 is similar to A2s, as the Pearly Gates' tone didn't change as much .) More authoritative and cleared it up quite a bit, still gets a tad muddy with too much drive BUT the tone and output is perfect for the neck position IMO.

I'm running it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and a Fender Blues Jr.–very happy with the results. I'm kicking myself though because I was going to record a before and after magnet swaps but apparently I didn't save my file....not putting the magnets back in. lol

Anyone else have any experience with UOA5s in the Pearly Gates and/or Phat Cats?

Will do man, really kicking myself for not saving that file of the stock mags.

EDIT: I really recommend the UOA5 for the Pearly Bridge. I've heard of other combos for the Phat Cat since it uses 2 magnets...might change one of the UOA5s to something like an A8 or A9 to make it a bit more clear/articulate BUT its a big improvement to the stock Phat Cat.

Are you using the PG like Billy Gibbons does? With a nickel cover?

I wouldn't change a thing about the nickel covered PG set and would never describe it as being thin.

Just the opposite.

It sounds fat and thick with tons of lively harmonics that make pinch harmonics a breeze...in my PRS SE Singlecut and using my Fender Mustang III amp.

I do want to try the UOA5 magnets and have a pair.

Just don't have any guitars at the moment with pickups that I'd want to alter the sound of.

I am using it with a Nickel Cover BUT in a 7/8 Warhead Strat. Guitar Specs: Mahogany+Redwood top body, Mahogany+Ebony neck with Gibson Scale, Schaller 2 point tremolo.

It sounded great stock, just got thin at times especially on the cleans.

I have a pearly gates neck with uoa5 on my epiphone ls classic which is like the typical epiphone les paul. So far after wiring it up twice, it doesn't sound any better than any other pickups. I guess i really need to test it on a loud amp.

For some reason it sounded a lot better on my cheaper epiphone which looks like a les paul special. Lots of life and bite.
