Urgent assistance needed! Project guitar is buzzing uncontrollably

I just finished wiring my Van Halen project guitar and I have a rather loud buzz at any volume. At the moment, my guitar is only a body with exposed electronics, no neck or pickguard. The pickup is a plain black trembucker 59 with no logo and the pot is a 500k. I followed the wiring diagram for 1 humbucker/1 volume to the letter but the buzz remains. The buzz intensifies if I touch the white wire from the outer tip of the output jack. Help please!

If the buzz increases when you touch something, you've reversed the leads at the jack.
