USA Charvel???

Benjy_26

25's Nemesis
I was looking around the local pawn shops and I saw a whit, strat bodied HSS Charvel with an OFR that was labeled Made In USA for $195. It had some parts for the Floyd missing (bar, saddle, springs). What do you guys think. Is this a cool guitar. The neck shape was cool, but I don't really care for the pointy headstock.

Should I snag it just to have at least one FR guitar?

Actually, it says New Jersey (!!?) on theneck plate. Is it still MIJ?
charvel never made a guitar with a jersey plate that would be a kramer which i play :) maybe a MUTT with a kramer body charvel neck?

Re: USA Charvel???

Parts mutt. My best guess at this time would be a Kramer with a USA Charvel neck or a "generic" *edit*(LOL, Strathead SD on the brain :D:D) Pointy Neck w/ Aftermarket decal (most likely).

Post a pic of the Headstock front and back (tuners as clear as possible, same for the logo, the exact positioning can tell books) , body front and back (particular attention to the electronics cover=, neck front and back ( particular attention to getting the whole skunk stripe and a clear look at the 12th fret dots).

The neck alone is worth 200 bucks if it´s "real", and I´ll take it straight off you if you wanna do that deal. Sell the rest on eBay for quick cash, buy a good Model series Charvel or cheap USA Jackson with the extra profit ;)

Actually, Most model 3s and 4s are poplar, and I´ve even seen a few in Alder. Body Wood specs on the Model series changed according to availability / what happened to be the closest pile :saeek: :laugh2:

And for completeness´ sake: The ´86 "Models" had Kahler 23xx Flat Mount trems, the JT-6 wasn´t introduced until early ´87. But the ´88-´89s do have the JT-6. For 1990 the JT-6 was ditched in avor of the Schaller Floyd Rose, and the Model series became "the Number Series" ;)

Re: USA Charvel???

Actually, as far as the logo on the neck goes: If it´s a "pointy" as well instead of a "3 on a side" headstock, the neck is off a model series. If the Logo is a "script/ Toothpaste style", it´s off a (not any worse) "Number Series"

If it helps any, my offer was for a pointy neck with the 3 on a side headstock ;)

I meant the Logo with my last post. If the logo has a 3 on a side ´Stock and says Made in USA Underneath, then we´ll want photos ;)

But Pointy or Strathead, a SD neck I´ll take anyday ;)

?????? If it has a new Jersey neckplate it´s NOT a Jackson or the neckplate isn´t original to the guitar. End of discussion ;)

ok.. then my memory is playing trick with me.. my bad.. but you did say there is a usa neckplate on the thing

Re: USA Charvel???

I think Benji said that. I´m pretty sure I´ve e always sadi that the San Dimas and Ontario plates are USA, and that the Fort Worth plates SAY USA but denote Japanese manufacture. Slap me hard if I really did goof on that sometime ;)

BTW, nice Gloss (Title) Benji, laughed my ass off when I just saw it :laugh2::friday:
