Use sheilding when splitting humbuckers?

Although this isn't my guitar, the inside looks like this:

I aim to split the humbuckers so can I expect hum when single coils are in operation? If yes, should I paint all the cavities with sheilding paint? Should I stick copper sheet to the back of the pickguard also?

Probably not necessary, but erring on the side of caution is
always a good thing. If you do, don't forget to ground it.

Thanks, do you mean ground the foil behind the pickguard? Where should I ground it?

That looks like there *is* shielding paint in the pickup cavities.

The shielding does not help against the 50/60 Hz cycle hum, but it helps against the other annoying buzzing. I might or might not change the sound audibly.
