Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Dominus has it right. It's not likely to win, but we have to give everything a chance!

Everything gets a chance...except that we've already had one vote, which narrowed down "everything" to a humbucker. It makes no sense; it's not a humbucker. The last poll didn't select humbucker-sized pickup. It selected a humbucker pickup. And not only is a single coil in the humbucker vote, but a single-coil-sized humbucker is missing. Do over...

Single coil sized humbucker WAS in the last poll. Humbucker sized single coil wasn't, which is why it's here now.

With just 4 votes it's more of a longshot than anything else but in the interest of fairness it should be here I think.

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

I don't get what "fairness" has to do with it. It's not a humbucker. It just has the same dimensions as one.

But thanks for pointing out that single coil sized humbucker was eliminated. I forgot that. I think they should have been here, and humbucker sized singles should have been in the other poll.

I want a dual coil in neck and bridge specs.

Relax, dude. I thought the last poll was fairly clear that it was just deciding the size of the pickup. Besides, humbucker is clearly going to win this one too.

Anyways, I'm with JeffB, unless you crazy bastards come up with something pretty damn interesting. Have fun, guys. :beerchug:

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

This pickup is going to suck....lol. There's just been way too much arguing already.

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

I would want a hotter, stronger, clearer, and beefier neck pickup that the one Seymour Duncan produces now (without being an active one). This is to match it with strong medium & high output bridge pickups.

What do you people say?

Something for 24 fretters!!

Please everyone remember that we're not entitled to anything here. So going nuts about people doing polls etc isn't needed. SD doesn't have to do anything for us.

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Ok, here is my idea. A MODERN sounding neck humbucker. The classic neck humbucker has been WAAAY overdone. Not necessarily a muddy, stiff, clinical, high output monster (which is often mistaken for modern). How about something really deep, clear and chimey? Maybe something with 43AWG? It worked for a Tele neck, far from sterile-sounding...

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Technically you could make a Humbucker sized single coil that is humbucking. No more Phat Cat buzz.

Next time, the first poll should just be "What hole would you like this pickup to fill?" Because people could pick a Humbucker hole and then a 3 coil rail could win. (Just to be different.)

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

I apologize if my polls aren't what everyone thinks they should be. If you don't like an option, don't vote for it. It's really that simple.

Thanks!

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Actually like some others here, I selected the humbucker as a form rather than the explicit function, since most enthusiasts here own HH guitars, thus it could benefit most number of members, rather than few with strat or tele pickup (however interesting that sounds too).

But if it's just going another customized humbucker (omitting most of the details we've already discussed in the first poll, such as blades, 'tron, or p90), and for the neck position no less, well this is where I check out too. :drive:

I think S-Deco could be a nice choice, because of sweet spot for 43AWG wire. Also some hum-cancelling P90 with true vintage sound would be great. And why can't it be do in neck-bridge set?

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Something for 24 fretters and users of high output bridge pickups, something in this range could easily double as a bridge pickup too. I posted specific specs in the other thread, I'm thinking something similar to a breed or Liquifire, or like the demon/490R hybrids I've made.

Good point, I could see myself using something like that in my cleveland strat.

Also guys...the important thing to remember is that we don't need to get hung up on wire turns or guages or DC. This is MJ and she can make magic if we let her.

Re: User Group Pickup Specs Poll #2

Yes, a medium-high output neck pickup could be used in the bridge.
