i have a evh style ibanez rg with 1 humbucker, and 1 volume pot. is it possible for me to split the bucker using a push pull pot? if so how would i wire it??

As shown, you'ld be selecting the "stud" coil. If you take the ground connection, thats on the bottom of the switch, and run it to the p'ups black wire instead, you'ld be selecting the "adjustable" coil.

Replace that switch with an on/off/on DPDT, and you can select either.
(But those generally aren't available as push/pull's.)

That diagram only shows one push/pull pot. They show the switch section separately just to illustrate that you could use a push/pull pot or a separate switch. When you wire it up, just use the terminals that are on the pot-switch. :)

so basically i would use the set of terminals opposite of the one that has the red and white wires attached to it, to solder the black lead, and the wire to the jack??

Not exactly. Unfortunately, I'm at work now, (or should be), so I can't post a diagram. If you don't mind waiting about 4 hours, I'll post a custom diagram that should make it easier.

Besides, SD does something in that diagram that I think is confusing to some folks. I'll "correct" it when I get home. (They show the pickup split, when the pot is pushed, instead of pulled.) ;)

Ok, first of all, I hope you don't think that I'm talking down to you here, its just that a lot of folks sometimes don't understand this, and I wanted to make sure that anyone could see how this is done. ;)

Anytime you want to split a humbucker, using a push/pull pot, you always have four choices:

1. Humbucker when down - pull, to split to the stud coil.
2. Humbucker when down - pull, to split to the adjustable coil.
3. Split to the adjustable coil - pull for humbucker.
4. Split to the stud coil - pull for humbucker.

To me, personally, 1 or 2 would be the "normal" choice.

So, in this first diagram, everthing is connected except the final connection. You have a choice of connecting either point A or point B to either the red or the green arrow:

This diagram shows, (with the hand drawn blue line), humbucker down - pull for stud

This diagram shows, humbucker down - pull for adjustable

This diagram shows, Stud coil down - pull for humbucker

Hope this helps, more than confuse. :)
