Vai's new pedal and new amp...

So being a Satch freak i pick up the new Guitar World (Satch and Vai on the cover) and on the CDROM there's a walkthrough of Vai's gear. Two things got my attention...

Prototype of a distortion pedal he's got going on with Ibanez called the Jemini (sp?)... looks like a two-in-one distortion pedal. Those seem to be in vogue these days, I'm seeing more and more of that style pop up.

Vai gave a brief walkaround of his Legacy amps and he mentioned that the Legacy 2 is in development, only specific detail was that it's a 3-channel amp this time.

Anyone know aything else about either of these? I own a Legacy so the Legacy 2 piqued my interest, though I'll likely keep Fulltone gear in the house as my overdrive rig.

AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh wait were you serious? Sorry I just haven't been able to dig anything from them except the most basic of basic Tubescreamers.

A three-channel amp AND a two-channel distortion pedal eh? Cool now his songs will have 5 different flavors of shredding.

They've made one of the best chorus and flanger boxes ever !!! don't believe me ? ask Rid, the FL-9 and the CS9 are amazing, I own a CS9 and FL9 is next on my list right after I solve my reverb/delay issues. Allthough I own and very happy with first Bad Horsie, Screaming Deamon is probably the most versitile Whah on the market besides superb build quality, Made in Japan still stands for a lot. As far as TS808, Lynch never parted with his from UTLAK 'till second Lynch Mob album, SRV never parted with his TS9 and that's just a few to mention right off. TS9 moded by John Spina here is a jewel just ask the club of owners here. If they are such crap how come Maxon - people who manufactured orginal 9 series still sell the original design for almost $200? Allthough re-issues by Ibanez are pretty much just as good for 70-80.

How heavy can the original legacy get?

Listenning to Vai's demos of the overdrive channel where he plays something along the lines of 'Die to live' it doesn't sound that heavy.

It doesn't get 'heavy' per se... I honestly couldn't really get that much of a 'metal' tone out of it when I've played with them.

It's got a very, very raunchy, rocky character to it.

They've made one of the best chorus and flanger boxes ever !!! don't believe me ? ask Rid, the FL-9 and the CS9 are amazing, I own a CS9 and FL9 is next on my list right after I solve my reverb/delay issues. eeeasy buddy. i'm not much of an 'effect guy' anyway, but the ibanez pedals i've tried have all sounded bad. they were the ones with the knobs that go into the body when you push on them, and were pretty cheap if i remember correctly. and i never said anything bad about those tubescreamers either, i said those were the pedals i LIKE by them...heh.

anyway...yeah the Legacy's i've played were loud and clean, and made me want something with more girth and dirt. maybe channel 3 will be gnarlier.

Both of you are correct. The current Ibanez "7" Series Tone-Lok pedals are ennh. The older Ibanez "9" series pedals are mostly great, because they were made by Maxon. The best chorus they made is the BC9, it has two modulators and an MN3007 BBD.

A new model Legacy means that the current ones will probably become even cheaper...

I doubt it. The 3 channel V3 is $200 more expensive than the Legacy. They'll probably just make the 3 channel legacy more expensive
