A good friend of mine has a 83 (10-16-83) Mij squier 70's strat SQ serial # that he wants to unload. As far as I can tell it is exactly like an actual 70's strat except, it has a squier logo on it. I am wondering if anyone has any kind of clue what these can sell for?

tell me more about it and you might be able to sell it right here, right now...I don't know too much about the value but we can find out.

I suspect that these are the large headstock version if it is a 70's type strat and they don't go for that much money - probably in the region of $300-$400. If your friend had either a '57 (maple board) or even a '62 (rosewoood board) then these are probably worth a lot of money.

My one is a '82 JV and is a '57 style strat ( I have put Fralin pups in them) and they can be $1000 or more.

Its olympic white, It has the usual 70's stuff such as large headstock, bullet truss rod, large trem block, three bolt neck. It is in allright condition for its age. It has some dings here and there on it. The guitar is all original, the knobs have yellowed a bit, very, very light fret wear. The serial # is SQ10966. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

stamped saddles?
maple fretboard?
nut width?
neck profile?
body route...SSS, HSS, HSH, swimming pool
describe the logo the base you can...where does it say Squire, where does it say Fender, etc...

Thanks

Re: Value of a 83 Mij squier 70's start

maple board
1 and 11/16th nut
SSS rout
the logo says squier stratocaster in large letters and underneath the Squier it says "by fender" in small letters
The saddles, are not the kind that have "fender" ingraved into them. I could be wrong but, I do not think they are stamped saddles.
I am not exactly sure about the neck profile, though the neck seems to fill my hand a little better than a standard strat neck. Strats are not usually my thing so I am only semi famillar with them

Re: Value of a 83 Mij squier 70's start

I have 3 SQ Squire's ! They are AWESOME GUITARS !! The current
market value is around $300 to $550 depending on the condition it's in.
They are as good if not better than my 73' Strat.
