Valve options for HRD

Hi All!

I have a set of JJs in my HRD that are due to be replaced... One is rattling, they're 10 years old, that's all the excuse I need!

I have a les paul with seth lovers in 50s wiring, a red coat governor speaker, and a THD hot plate.

I'm looking for a clear, 'open' sound, and I'd like to get a kind of bloom or sustain sound if that makes sense.

I will ask mr Eurotubes for more options, but can anyone share some opinions on their favourite valve options?

If you want open, blooming sound, I think along with tubes you should replace the governor. That's exact opposite how I would describe that speaker.

I don't think changing tubes could get you there with that speaker.

JJ's are great tubes, and since HRD is bright amp (I've heard), I think it might be best to stick with them. That's where they excel at.
