Valvebucker - Anyone heard of this? Thoughts?

Re: Valvebucker - Anyone heard of this? Thoughts?

This could actually be a cool idea if they used that new Korg NuTube, which would operate on a 9-volt battery.

The NuTube idea would be a really cool idea to work with!

I'm all for experimentation. Might not be practical but it could lead to other improvements in tone.

Across the rainbow bridge to Valhalla odin is waiting for me and my valvebucker. It actually sounded pretty cool but no better than a pedal or a good amp.

I thought the "middle" position sounded really nice. That being said, I felt they should have done several amps and a direct in...that Fender amp can make most things sound great.

Still think the idea is impractical but I applaud anyone trying to explore new designs and options.

The guy is really annoying 75% of the time and alarmingly insightful the remainder. The Fiero and PT Cruiser episodes are standouts.

I don’t find that to be honest, he’s one of the channels that I put in the background and tune in and out off when I’ve got nothing else to watch.
I’ve been watching for about 3 years.

Do they make tube dampeners that small? jk

Actually, they do. The tubes include a small piece of foam that you place between the tube and board. But even then, they advise against mounting them into a combo amp, where they'd be impacted by the speaker vibration. This might explain why Vox uses the head/cab configuration on both the MVP50 series and the Superbeetle.

:smack: I keep showing my ignorance! lol

Nah. You have to search deep to find that tidbit. ;)
