Mean Street is my favorite VH tone.

Ed H,it probably was a stock Dimarzio Super D,Ed probably said that to though people off,you know Ed wasnt honest when it came down to his equipment.

And don`t forget this tune , the overdubs were the Strat. And that Destroyer was rumored to have a Super 70. He could have used any quality humbucker for that album and it would have sounded like VH1 for the most part.

Just kiddin his tone on that actually rocks! makes the tune if you now what i mean.

like i said he got a great tone on it but when it comes to tunes give me "on fire" "atomic punk" or even "little dreamer" which is a kick ass slower tune but jamies a bit too poppy for me!:28::D

I guess what I should have said in my post was that "I`m bragging that I got to see them live in `80,`81,82 oh and `84" :D

I bet with something like a Digitech RP1000 or other modeller, you could get his sound. Axefx if you have the money. Those things sound amazing.

The RP no way but the AXE- fx without a doubt! I give you the Dweez and the AXE-fx:eyecrazy:

That is the original AXE-FX the newer on is even better! i was tempted to buy that instead of a YJM marshall

Maybe on the Axe-FX, but I have an RP1000, pretty sure it won't get "organic" enough.

I've seen that video before, it definitely does the tone, Dweez's hands don't hurt either...

Personally I really liked his tone from the 1976 demos- In particular this tune.

You can hear the Destroyer for the first part, and then after the phased solo, he double tracks it with the strat.

I have this demo on CD and the quality is much better than the youtube uploads.. this is the best one I can find.

I always thought that stuff sounded like KISS in tone? did he use KISS' marshalls?

Well I'm no KISS fan..and to me it doesn't really sound like KISS/Ace's tone at all. The amp definitely sounds more like a really hot 50W Metalface (or a totally jacked MV JMP) and not a warmer 100w Plexi.
