Van Halens "Every Body Wants Some" 5150 combo clip

I just did this for fun. Haven't done a VH clip in a long while. Not trying at all to copy the exact sound of the album or anything like that. I was just curious to see how the combo would sound playing along with the CD like i did with my other plexi reissue clips in my sig. I took out Ed's guitar and played along with the right channel of the song which on the CD only has his effect return with no guitar. I have to say this freakin thing sounds awesome in my opinion! I never tried doing this with the 5150 combo before. I always thought it would just sound crappy. I have the combo set up with the sound coming out of my 4x12 Marshall cab. I kept the gain real low to try and get a more plexi-like vibe to the tone. Let me know what you think. It's a small clip.

Every body wants some w/5150 combo

Is it supposed to be only :24 long, or did I have a problem downloading it?
Loved what I DID here, tho!

Too damn short VH!! But great tone as always. How've you been doing anyway? It's been too long since we've last heard from you. Oh yeah, I played some of your clips as well as a few of the songs from your old band for some of the guys here at work. They were totally blown away!!

It definitely sounds like a 5150... man it sounds cool but whats with the shortness? Right before the first lick!

Thanks man. Yeah it's just a real short clip to get an idea of how that amp would sound in one of the old VH songs. Add a little lazyness to the whole scenario and i ended up with a 24 sec clip LOL. :D

Yeah man you let us all down,, LOL.. just kidding. Seriously though I thought I was a VH O' Holic, but you take the cake, nice clips. I like the Hot For Teacher and blues Jam the best.

As much as you dig playing that stuff, you should check out the Splawn amps www.splawnguitars.com talk about "brown sound" the Quick Rod is right up your alley.

Thanks Shnook. Here's the exact settings i used: (Lead pre - 4) (Low - 6) (Mid - 7/8) (High - 4) (Resonance - 7) (Presence - 7/8 ). I mic'd the lower right speaker of my Marshall cab with one Shure sm57.

Thanks bro! Yeah it really is a great amp imo. It all depends on how you set it up. I like to keep the gain much lower to give it that vintage type of sound.
