you HAVE to keep the gain down on those amps! anything about 5 or so and it just becomes uncontrollable...lol...I have to admit that there's more gain in that amp than anyone could possibly need...even the lord of the strings, sir edward himself =)

I think what I liked about the combo more was it was only 60 watts...so you could turn it up more, have it at a listenable volume and drive the power tubes....

anywho, I dunno if you saw it, but I posted a clip of my band....doin' a cover of Velvet Revolver's Slither...I think you have to go through a couple pages on here to get to it though....people seem to be bored with it now..lol....

anywho, you rock and I want your amps..all of them...so fork em over...hahaha

Thanks again bro! :D I'll try and do a search to find your clip. I agrea 100% that this amp has too much gain LOL. Just needs to be tamed a little and it ends up sounding great.

Just listened to the new version of Unchained. It's not dead on Eddie, but still REALLY nice tone. That's the best 5150 tone i've ever heard.

Thanks twoheadedboy! I agree about the new Unchained. I've always felt it was close but not exact. I personally think i got alot closer in tone with this last 'Everybody wants some' clip compared to the real song imo.

Do you have any insight to the differences between a head and combo version of 5150?

Thanks man. I personally like the sound of the 5150 combo over the head. It just sounds warmer to my ears and is also biased hotter. It could also be a taste thing. I played through the head and Peavey cab years ago and it had a harsh sound to it. After hearing that i switched it to a Marshall cab and it sounded alot warmer. Just remember that this clip was done with the combo hooked up to a 4x12 cab. The sound of the combo without the 4x12 sounds great in my opinion, just not as BIG and full sounding as with it. Those Celestion 25 watters also give it a more vintage-like, less buzzy sound.

Good to see the 5150 in capable hands getting some love. It really is a more versatile amp than many give credit for.

Thanks sosomething. Yeah i love this amp. If you set it the right way you can really get some awesome tones out of it.

Thanks man. I played an 81 Ibanez on that one. "Artist" is the model of the guitar. The name of the song is "Yesterday".

Thanks man. I appreciate that. Hey don't ever stop recording those originals of yours, i'm heavily into that stuff!! I have a strong feeling if you push your material enough your definitely gonna be very successful with it. I just wish i can get off my lazy behind and write some new stuff myself instead of these 5 second clips. :D
