Velcro on a board....

I believe the soft side usually goes on the board and the hook side on the pedals.
Don't think there's any real purpose to that, but it seems to be sort of an informal standard.

It's because if you put the hook side on the board the board picks up an astounding amount of fluff and crap. At least with the hooks on the bottom of the pedals you don't have to see the collected stuff. :P

See - I'm subject to use the pedals all over the place. So I like soft on the pedal.

My board generally down't pick up stuff because dogs and cats don't sleep on my board!

Optionally, you can run a vacuum every once and again...

I think most of the hair, dirt and lint comes from the venues not the home or studio -god knows if they ever vacuum those places

Also, when a pedal is not on the Temple Audio board, it's not going to sit flat anywhere else because it has that mounting plate on it, right?

Yup...you'd have to take the plate off. It isnt too hard to do that, but you have an extra step of getting the adhesive off, too. But in the Temple ecosystem, it works well.

Nonsense! There is no reason why a concert venue or rock and roll bar would not be thoroughly vacuumed after closing every night.
I simply will not hear such allegations.
Vomit does not vacuum so well, tho a mop does more appeal to its subtler matter formation.
Vacuums are for the front of house, or the restaurant section of the establishment.

I think I might consider tack welding my pedals to the board. Shouldn't hurt resale too much, right?

Some of my stuff, like patch bays, power supplies and noise gates, I have mounted under my Pedaltrain boards. Used Dual Lock for those and it works great. Regular old Velcro for the top though. I swap pedals around too much to commit to anything more rigid. Soft side on the board, rough stuff on the pedals.

I am one of those people who cuts the Velcro to fit around bottom labels on pedals too.

Maybe we should use magnets

Or some sort of snap

Maybe a blister pack system

Just spitballin

The fact that there isn't some kind of standard way to do this is ridiculous. Seems like there should be one that works for every pedal and board, and doesn't involve buying Velcro, zip ties or anything else.

Snap
or twist lock

I was watching a YouTube video on French cleats

There are so many elegant ways

like the way a battery cover on your TV remote snaps into place

Maybe we should use magnets

I can just see the discussion now -

A) What sort of magnet should I use to hold my Tube Screamer to the board?

B) A2's are the best, they fatten the tone nicely!

A) I tried A2's, but it didn't help.

B) Did you put the "north/+" towards the knobs our the switch? Try flipping the polarity...

C) Is it smooth or roughcast? I always use roughcast with Screamers. I think an SD1 sounds better with smooth.

Strong magnets will interfer with digital effects
erase memory. Etc
Not really a good idea

You forgot chewing gum, modeling clay and leg irons.

Amateur.

I envision a plasticky goo
in a litter box sized enclosure
that pedals can be pressed into
The goo solidifies under stage lights to provide good adhesion
Re-gooifys when beer is added but only expensive high class beer not the stuff they have in bars per se
