Versatile expensive guitar vs multiple inexpensive guitars

Re: Versatile expensive guitar vs multiple inexpensive guitars

Thanks, I'm probably gonna go with Schecter or an LTD. Looking at some reviews online, Ibanez quality control (indonesia) it's not doing good with their 500 dollar and up guitars, so I hear good things about the other 2. I tried an LTD EC 401qm, a Schecter KM7 and a Schecter platinum at GC and build quality looked great. I tried some Ibanez to compare them with EC and platimum, and it was unbelievable how much Ibanez was charging.

6 string fixed bridge to easily go from standard E to drop D. Then add a Digitech Drop pedal for more versatility regarding different down tunings.

I don't think 1 guitar can be the master of all things anyone wants to play unless it's like standard tuning and Drop D on a hard tail guitar.
Everyone needs at least 2 guitars or more depending on how many tunings you use. Setup on a guitar is where it's at and what makes your instrument play it's best. When you keep changing the tuning of one guitar, it may not perform well for all the different tunings especially when you start going lower. String gauge also becomes a factor.

I don't know what expensive means, I think thats for the person shopping to decide. I found a home for guitars in the $849-$1999 range. I find guitars that cost less you give up quality and the electronics seem to suffer greatly. I also find guitars that cost more not to give me any benefits. I Les paul might be something that is a different animal as I would pay up to about $4000.00 for one. They might be the only guitar I would spend more then $1999.99 on.

Just about every single time when buying a guitar you get what you pay for. Many like the $499-$799 range as you get a nice guitar there and decent hardware. They are also a good price point to buy a guitar to customize to your liking.

I can barely play 6 strings let alone venture into 7. Good luck with that as being a metal guy myself I find it fascinating. I love the lower tones guys get out of them. John From Dream Theater uses 7 strings and his tone is killer.

Good luck in becoming a better guitar player and with your Ibanez. But the bus will not stop there my friend. You should do yourself a favor and play on owning more then just one guitar. I also believe buying quality guitars is the way to go instead of buying multiple more affordable guitars. It's so much more rewarding to own a higher quality instrument as things like Intonation are better. Action and quality of frets are much better. Not many lower end guitars are built very well.

Mantis.

Yeap i know now what you guys mean now about having multiple guitars. When i went to GC, i wanted to take home like 4 guitars, in my head: oh this one for guns and roses eb flat stuff, this one for djent and this one for d standard to drop c lol.

So yeah dont have the money for multiple expensive guitars lol. Ill go for the ones that i tried at GC, the build quality looked good, upgraded hardware with emgs and duncans. Just have to purchase one by one. All of those together will be the price of the ibanez s 7 string lol.
