Versatile power supply?

Ok...

So after countless years of doing without, I'm starting to amuse myself with various effects pedals again. I'd like to use one of those multi-out power supplies, but have a mix of 200 and 300 milliamp requirements and different polarities...

Does anyone make a supply that will work with just about anything, all at the same time? Huge plus if it's cheap.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Versatile power supply?

Don't go cheap, because you'll end up with a glorified power strip....and grounding hum.

Invest one time in a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power II, and you'll avoid headaches, and have something that powers everything, including 16v Line 6's, 2 prong, and all the 9v pedals. Because of the isolated mini transformers, your board will run as silent as plugging right into the amp.

I've never had any problems with a Visual Sound 1 Spot. It's cheap, you can get connectors to get it to work with anything, and it's very quiet.

Re: Versatile power supply?

i use a 1-spot. Cheap, quiet, and powerful. It can power many pedals (you can daisy chain them together), up to its 1200 miliamp rating. I have 8 pedals powered by the 1 spot so far.

Re: Versatile power supply?

I found that the 1 spot introduced a bit of noise into my signal. So much that I took it back within a day. No good. Then again, I'm not very tolerant of any amount of noise in my signal ;).

I had a Godlyke Power-all after that. The power-all is about 10 bucks more than the 1-spot bundle, but I found it to be much quieter than the 1-spot.

I've since upgraded to the voodoo lab pedal power 2 plus. And now I have no noise problems from my power supply ;). Its expensive, and its heavy (well, heavier than a wall-wart), but all in all its worth it.

Re: Versatile power supply?

Maybe you got a bad one.

Very possible, though it could have just been the combination of effects that I was running with it. It was most noticeable on my Fulltone wah and I've heard that those tend to be a bit temperamental depending on what you use to power them ;).

Still the godlyke worked like a charm, though the pedal power 2 does the job even better. I'm still keeping the godlyke around as a backup.

Re: Versatile power supply?

Thanks for all the responses!

Though the Voodoo Lab appeals to my higher self, the 1-spot appeals to my wallet, which, by defeult, currently rules. Actually, it looks like for a few bucks more I can get a 1-spot package which includes adaptors for reversing polarity, if necessary.

I can deal with a little noise for live apps, and for studio I'd plug in only what I need and maybe just use a battery.

And if it ever fails, a couple o' yanks and a shove and I'm back to the martyrdom of guitar-cord-amp - Yeah!

Thanks again, all!
