Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Recorded direct into my Loop pedal ...that's why it's so short for a change haha. Had to stop playing the lead overdub before it looped around on itself..

Turns out I had the volume on the Stonehead way too low & the looper barely picked it up..so it's a bit anaemic but still gives a general idea.

Single mono track/no effects/pre/post prod.

Been messing around more with the crunch channel..

This ones crunchier (no effects/pre/post prod)

It's a bit trickier getting the crunch tones right with the emulated out..but I'm getting closer & hopefully get there eventually :p

V2 with a bit of plate reverb added in Audacity..

I think the Stonehead's really going to up the sound/quality of my epic loop pedal jams once I get a few more things sorted out... :lmao:

I picked up the AMT Reverberry pedal for mine. Both my Stonehead and Mahaffay Plexi didn't have reverb so was a good investment. It also has a volume boost on the Reverberry to boost clean if you want to.

So glad I went with the Stonehead. It's really one I use minimal fx if at all on. Such a great sound all by itself.

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Yeah, it's great sounding on it own. My Bugera has pretty decent reverb but I mostly jam without it too..

I do have a couple of reverb pedals, my old Boss & a chinese Biyang (which sounds great) & I could use those in the loop if I wanted to ..but I mostly just plug in & play :)

I'm actually kind of keen on that speaker sim pedal AMT has out.. ..it would be nice to have a few extra speaker sim options.

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

I have the Chameleon Cab pedal, but I think their Pangea would be better as it uses Impulse Responses and comes with 100 loaded up. The Chameleon Cab is great though. 4 knobs - The parameters are magnet size, cabinet size, mic placement near or far, mic placement on axis/off axis

It dials in a good 4/12 sound easy enough, but there are no markers on the knobs other than labels. You just dial it in by ear to how you want it to sound. They have a demo video of it. The Pangea pedal is more expensive, but offers a lot more options.

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Well, the truth is I still don't know what the hell "impulses" are, can't record with a computer to save my life & prefer to keep things as simple as possible which means dials/knobs are more my thing haha. Plus, the cheaper the better.. so I think that Chameleon cab pedal would be more my thing. Does it make a noticeable difference compared to the Stonehead's cab emulation would you say?

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Yes, it has more options to dial in something you like. I like the Stoneheads already, but the Chameleon seems a little fuller sounding. I'll try to put some clips up this week and A/B them. I'm lazy on recording. I just like playing. Been multitrack recording since 2000 and after 15 years, it is kind of one of those things that seem tedious to me just so others can hear you.

Pretty easy to plug my Focusrite into my ipad and chameleon cab into the focusrite, but its not something I have setup all the time.

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Well, that would be great ...thanks ..this is the forum for "clips" lol..so feel free to post up whenever the spirit moves you. I've been recording for a long time too (pretty badly though, for the most part haha) ...Cassette 4 tracks/standalone digital multi-tracks/loop pedals/handheld recorders lol .. ie...with anything but my computer which I can't get the hang of/just not comfortable with. Most of my stuff is overlong & pretty self indulgent..but it's a fun way to kill time :laugh2:

Those clips remind me of a late 60's psychedelic pop band out of Austin.

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

lol, maybe....I just set it up for a raunchy kinda vintage tubey tone and jammed over a couple of jangly chords lol. Mostly I was trying not to overshoot the backing loop ..though I did a bit (that unintentional harmony lead part :laugh2:)

In the end it sounds more like it came from this:

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Anyways..here's another crunch channel clip..backed the mids off a bit ..separate dry mono rhythm & lead tracks..

I actually plugged my Biyang reverb pedal into the FX loop but then I forgot there was switch I had to press for that ..so it was recorded dry lol.

Guitar's my Jackson Dinky..

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Crunch channel pretty versatile. Like Lead 1 is versatile. Nice tones on that clip!

I've been running my Xotic RC boost (a very transparent boost pedal) in front and clean with RC gives me slight blues breakup, crunch with RC gives me hot rod plexi, Lead 1 with RC gives me JCM 800ish sounds, and finally Lead 2 with RC giving me some high gain chugga tones. With RC off I get sparkly cleans, crunch is JTM style, lead 1 modded plexi, lead 2 jcm800ish

Just a few extra options using the RC boost

Re: Very short crunch-lead clip with my AMT Stonehead

Thanks man :)

I hear you about the boost. The Stonehead takes them very well..& overdrives too..

That Xotic RC boost does sound pretty sweet :bigthumb:
