Re: VHT Pitbull 45

All I've heard has been very good, but I can't really remember so much specifics. A versatile rock amp, IIRC. I haven't tried any VHTs myself.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45

I am biased of course cause i am getting a Deliverance but they are very nice amps.
what do you want it for?
what kind of music?, cause although i thought it sounded great the el84s dont quite cut it for me to get Van Halen or something like that.

the amp has real pretty cleans. and great Dist. just doesnt have the oomf of a el34

Re: VHT Pitbull 45

I own a PB 45, and love the hell out of it. Can be run in Class A/B mode (around 45 watts) or Class A mode (around 30 watts). Cleans are great, useable reverb, and wonderful smooth, thick gain. Takes pedals very well also. I play anything from blues and jazz to some modern rock (Fuel, Incubus, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.) and it handles it all well. It could also tackle country well I'd imagine, but I wouldn't look here for anything too heavy. I suppose it's something like a Marshall/Vox pairing. There are lots of options on each channel to tweak your tone, like boost switches, edge switches, and so on.

You don't have to be cranked up super loud to get the tubes purrin', but on the other hand it has plenty of volume and cut to be heard in a good sized venue. I played a show with about 300 people in the audience through an unmiked 2x12", with vocals and drums on the PA and an Ampeg 8x10" bass cab on the other side of the stage; still had no trouble being heard :). I've heard complaints of cleans getting a tad dirty after the amp has been running a while, but I've yet to encounter that issue.

ya know...this is sounding really likeable for what i'm wanting...do you have the head or a combo? it looks like they are going around $800 used so that's fits right in the niche i'm looking at...i just wish they had clips on their site!?

anyone else have anything to add?

I've got the head version, running through an Avatar cab w/ a Celestion V30 and G12H30 setup.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45

The other option would be a VHT Super 30. They run just over $1000 new and can get into the early-VH gain terroritory.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45

has anyone heard anything about the different size cabs that the 1x12 comes in?

Re: VHT Pitbull 45

What's the price on a Pitbull 2x10 or 1x12? How could I get one, as I'm in Canada. I don't know of any stores near me that sell VHTs.
