Vibramate Spoiler

This is the greatest thing to happen to a Bigsby since...ever!!!!

That is all.

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

My guess would be, that added piece makes it act like a fulcrum style vibrato. Is this correct ?

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

They are great! So are their adapters. I have been waiting anxiously for their Vibrola version that is supposedly in development, but still no word. I've wanted to put a Vibrola on my Explorer since I got it...and coincidentally enough, they used an Explorer for their prototype:

I'd also love a B12 version for my Les Paul.

I'm just a bit pissed that it wasn't me who made them. I had the same exact idea 8 or 10 ago, and I really mean exact. I even drew pictures of it.

It just makes them easier to string up.

i find stringing a bigsby easy...i just pre bend the ball end of the string over my thumbnail and hook it on. I do have acrylic nails tho...but a two second bend with a pair of needle nose pliers does the job too.

i would be terrified of doing that, ive had bad experiences with string breakage.

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

I have no problem stringing as Bigsby either but this is a lot faster plus not bending the string is a good thing.

If you get the bend just right it's fine but if not then you have to not only bend the string at the ball end but you also have to twist it slightly too.

Also, FWIW...and I might be nuts but the Spoiler seems to affect tuning in a positive way!

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

Verrry interesting.

My solution to the Bigsby restring problem is to install Sperzels on my Duo Jet. That also solves the issue re. me not liking the open gear tuners that came stock.

Tuning on the 335 w/ Bigsby was fine before the Spoiler...I only bought it to make changing strings faster and easier but the tuning does seem even more stable plus the range seems a little wider...I might be nuts but that's what it feels like!

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

I have not tried a Vibramate to attach the Bigsby on a guitar but I might give it a shot, the Bigsby on my 335 is screwed on in the traditional way I just put the Spoiler on it to make string changes faster.

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

So with the spoiler, it seems like a combination of balance and string tension that's holding it on there. Is there any risk of it slipping or shifting in use?

Does it affect the tension on the arm in a noticeable way?

Re: Vibramate Spoiler

It is held on simply by string tension...you slip it over the 6 pins that you used to put thru the ball ends and they hold it in the correct position.

I see no way it could slip....the side to side fit is decided by those 6 pins and the only way it's going to fall off is if you take all 6 strings off of it.

Arm tension...it might be my imagination...I'll have to play it a bit then re string it again w/o the spoiler and see but I feel like it has slightly more range than it did before however if it does it's just a tiny bit.

All in all it's a very handy devise and worth the price IMHO since re stringing is so much easier and faster!

I love the look of the Vibramate stuff. I have it in mind to use it to put a Bigsby on my Epi SG Custom. Glad you like it.

Very cool.

I might just order one. That plus the Sperzels ought to make string changes on the Duo Jet as simple as any guitar I have.

Measure your Epi before buying. You might need a different model than the Gibson equivalent for some epi's. love how it fit my lp.
