Vibrola upgrades

Someone gave me two upgrade ideas for my vibrola on the SG. I think it was on here, but it may have been real life.

One was a rocker bridge for tuner stability.

The other was an improvement on the mechanism for mounting the arm.

I cannot for the life of me remember what the trem arm mod was, and I've grown tired of the arm slinging around willy nilly.

Anyone hear know what it was?

I haven't tried to see if it's a whole tone or semi tone . I will check tomorrow
Pulls up and dives tho

Roller bridge helps alot

My trem stays in tune just fine. Has about the a little more range than a floating Strat bridge.

I'm not concerned with replacing the thing, I'm just tired of the arm swinging around

Got an image of yours so I can take guesses at what would remedy it?

do you want the trem? as i mentioned before, id stop tail it and leave the plate for looks ala derek trucksgibson-electric-guitars-solid-body-gibson-sg-derek-trucks-signature-cherry-2017-u2851503003-1...webp

Yeah, maybe it's just time to lose the arm. It looks a lot cooler with it though. But man if it isn't a pain

Between the washer and the arm,

Add something to increase friction

A rubber o ring or paper or foam

Trim it small enough to hide behind the arm

They should have plastic washers at the hardware store
It should crush a bit to slow the arms descent

IIRC, Mike "Puisheen" Adams put a nylon washer under the nut on the bottom but also put a second nut to lock the first one in. You can set your tension by how much pressure is on the nylon washer and then lock it in.

To stop the maestro vibrola arm flapping about, use a longer screw and two hex nuts to secure it - one to set the desired tension, the other to lock it all in place.
