Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this one.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

An "Orville by Gibson" LPC is a MUCH better deal IMO.... I`m not sure what the going price on used Orvilles is these days, but IIRC they generally run around the price of a Used LP Studio, which I personally would consider a more or less fair trade.

I can´t believe I`m actually advocating a Non Gibson @ a Gibson price point, if only indirectly.... Somebody please shoot me before this gets out of hand and I start recommending ESPees and Ibeenhads over Jacksons and Charvels :chairfall

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

Hey... Orvilles are Gibsons. They're just Orvilles.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

^^ very true.. I just see it as a slippery slope when I start recommending anything that´s not the "absolute" original.

Next thing you know I´ll be raving about how badass the new Dimarzio pickups in my chinese LTD sound through my Bugera :chairfall

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

whats up then empty pockets. im down to trade. is everything original on theguitar? does it need any work?

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

ok well theres this guy that wants to trade his 1989 Fender Stratocaster, would that be worth it for the Marshall head, my amp doesnt come with a foot switch

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

I mean yeah if that's what you're after.

They seem to go from $600-$800 depending on condition. I'd play it first before making any decisions.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

ok well he wants 200 cash plus the amp so if anything NO DICE lol. OK guys im looking for a mesa boogie single rectifier preferably version 2. but what do you guys have for trade for my marshall jcm 2000 dsl 100 i stay in ca, 90280.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

In my opinion, you need to nail exactly what it is that you wish to achieve by selling the Marshall head.

If Mr. Boss/Vox/Tokai comes back to you with enough hard cash, do the decent thing and sell him that amplifier. Invest the proceeds in the one thing that you definitely need. In this instance, another amplifier.

Happy haggling.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

well i wants a badass fender guitar or gibson les paul to behonest or a mesa single rectifier. hey what do you guys think about a CIJ Fender Strat for my Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 head without a footswitch? the guy has it for $700 and on ebay they range from $650 to $1000. so in my eyes its a good deal, any thoughts on this? and now im speaking to "Burruss" on a deal with his Orville Les Paul Custom.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

yea the Orville Les Paul Custom trade didnt happen cuz my amp doesnt need any work done to it and i dont want a guitar that needs work done to it so im still open for trades.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

ok guys ive been trying to sell or trade the Marshall Jcm 2000 Dsl 100 but no luck, on craigslist there go from $500-$700. the guy with the tokai guitar said this.."ill give you the tokai vintage guitar($300), the vox ac4tv combo amp($150), a slingerland chrome tom($50), the boss sd-2($100) PLUS $100"
at this point i wouldnt mind taking the offer because its hard for me to sell the Marshall cuz there are soo many people that are selling at for like $600 and i originally wanted $750, then i went to $700, now im considering $650. but with his deal i more up to $700.
thoughts, opinions?

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

IMO, the valuation on the Boss SD-1 is still too high. The valuation on the drum is irrelevant. Do you play drums? Do you know a drummer in your vicinity who collects random drums of varying brands and appearances? :scratchch

I still say that a high model number MIJ Tokai Stratocaster is a worthy guitar. Just needs American pickups and electronics. Some of the other items seem pointless unless you can flip them almost immediately.

If you enjoy the mid-scooped rasp of the Marshall Valvestate head, WTF do you want with a Boss Distortion pedal? Seriously?

If you eventually plan to run the Tokai Strat through the overdrive channel of the Marshall Valvestate, a noise suppressor pedal might be more appropriate.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

wel funkfingers, its not a sd1, those go for $25 on craigslist. its a sd-2 dude. and it is not made anymore. so i think its up there because its vintage and also not in production anymore. so i would say $75-$100 is a decent price for it. the tom is $50 just for the sake of adding stuff to the deal and i do know a couple of drummers :). and well the boss sd2 will be a boost on the valvestate amp with the tokai. and on the tokai, how much would a serial number 208070 goldstar go for?

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

By high model number, I meant the Tokai model designation. e.g. The TTE is a Tele-style guitar. The TSG is an SG-style. The number after the letters reflects the quality/price. Hence, a TST-40 is a mid-price Strat-alike, probably in a opaque finish. A TST-60 will be a smarter affair, possibly in a transparent finish, a custom colour or some special edition.

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

koo funkfingers, i really appreciate the info. dude.. that Marshall is gone hahahaa, i dont even miss it you guys, im in love with this Tokai, its just unbelievable tone AND feel :..) im soo happy with it. it sounds amazing through the Marshall 8100 through the Celestion Vintage 30. and the Boss Sd-2 sounds really nice for blues and fusion stuff, ive read a lot about this pedal and everyone is nuts about the red channel and hate the green channel, to me i love the green channel it sounds fat, open and clear, and the red channel sounds like muffle madness lol. i just played like 5 hours non-stop!! and i still wanting to play but i feel my eyes closing and head starting to hurt, dam i need sleep lol. the vox sounds loud and really clear, and is really convenient, due to the 4, 1 and 1/4 watt switch it has. ima play around with that later today. and $100 bucks in my pocket sounds nice too. now all i gotta do is sell that tom, maybe even just give it to my friend for free, but the guy did say it was a vinatage tom from the 70s so ima look into it first. i wanna thank everyone that helped me or didnt on this journey. thanks a lot guys, you guys are the best keep up the good work.

Even allowing for initial infatuation, if your Tokai is sounding THAT good, it might be that somebody has already installed American pickups. Next time that you change strings, take a look under the hood.

Meanwhile, how about some photographs for da bros, please. :D

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

yeaa the guy said something about some pickups from new york that cost like 100 for the set. the neck pickup sounds amazing the rest ima change, like the middle and bridge pickups and also the saddles, and block. Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

so what do you guys think?

Re: Vintage Boss Pedals, Tokai Goldstar and VOX. I need the BEST OF THE BEST in this

i would have to think it was the best strat on earth to trade a DSL100 for it

i am not super familiar with those particular Tokai but my opinion of non-USA Strats in general is even a really really good one is worth maybe $500 tops, if it has pickups I wouldn't wana pull and an amazing neck... and even if you don't totally dig the tone of the DSL100, I feel like it's a more useful piece of gear in general...

but that's just me. what matters is if you dig it or not.
