Vintage Fender Twins

Re: Vintage Fender Twins

you can mod the bias section without screwing with the tone stack or any of that

but if he likes the sound it's making, then it makes sense to stick with it

That's like saying "My six cylinder Chevy has plenty of power even though I know it's only running on five cylinders...why fix it? It's fast enough for me!" :laugh2:

hah

I'm all for fixing the bias, lew, but tone is subjective

for instance, while jeff seal had my bassman, i coulda had him change it over to be an aa864 clone, or an aa165 or anything really, but i didn't, because i wanted the silverface sound. I love both those amps but it's not what i wanted

Well good...you got what you wanted. :laugh2: That's all that matters.

But there are real problems with most silverface Fenders that can be easily remedied. The internal wiring is so sloppy in some that suppression caps to prevent oscillation had to be added to the output tubes for example. And the bias control is a balance control...not a bias adjustment control. Stuff like that should be fixed...the amp will sound alot better. Jeff probably did that for you...right? Lew
