Have any of you been following this? It has been a really cool series IMHO. They have featured Gibson amps (one of my favs cuz I own one), Silvertone, Selmer and others that I'm sure I haven't correctly remembered :laugh2:. So what are your nominees for the next installment in the series?

It's an excellent series. The guys they interview really know their stuff. Loved the Gibson article too.

Harmony made some pretty cool amps too. I have a 1956 Harmony H44 guitar that my wife bought a garage sale for $15. I would love to find a matching amp for it. If you scan down a littl on this page there is a photo of a black harmony and matching amp! Mine is exactly like the gold one. Harmony made a lot of these without there name on them and they were sold through departmant stores. Its a pretty cool guitar... all one piece of wood including the neck. I use it to play slide in open A. I haven't been able to find one of the amps!

Any of the Fender "II series" Rivera designed amps. They all seem to sell for far less than $1000, normally less than $500 depending on which model ya go for, And For a great sounding Handwired amp that seems like a steal to me.

bump -- there have to be more of you out there interested in funky old vintage amps...

I don't know if it's considered to be vintage: I played through a music man combo amp which had a REALLY heavy speaker and 100 watts output. The funny thing was that the it only had two 6l6 tubes. The clean was great on that amp, very nice. I ve seen them on ebay for $600 or so...

I have no idea how they get the 100 watts with the two tubes. I tried to look into them but I couldn't find complete info and detailed specifications.

I've never seen the Princeton Reverb II's go for less than $700. Same with the Deluxe Reverb II's. Those amps are going for stupid money usually.

The only ones that usually go for low-dough are the solid state ones that no one wants anyway.

Anything in Crate's V-Series would be my vote. I have the Palomino V16 and love it more than I thought I'd ever love something with the name Crate.

And also, if Billy Gibbons uses them, there's gotta be SOMETHING right going on.

Really? Thats weird. I've never seen a PRII marked at more than $350 around here, and I've never seen a DRII at all, haha. When I got my Concert II a few years back, it was marked $275 (although i only paid $7 for it). I know the super champs, and Champ II's seem to sell for much more than the others though.
I do see the II series amps listed on ebay all the time WAY higher though, But I've never seen one marked that high in real life, an we all know how insanely inflated the BIN prices are on ebay.

BIN's are usually out of hand, but I keep seeing PRII's going for 8 bills and wondering why. I have one I got dirt cheap but it was sold on the condition of first refusal to sell, which I know the buyer will likely take me up on the offer.

The Concert's are a little more obscure. The Champ II's go for stupid money though, especially with the pedals.

Thats crazy. Its been a while since I even checked into any of those amps, so I guess they've just gone up in price alot since I last checked, haha.
