Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

Yeah, I've been trying to ignore that last one a week or so now... you're not helping.

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

This is one of the best ones you can get, a BL-300, with the cast (not bent) brass hardtail.

The bridge isn't actually any good, but the point is that you are free to put a proper route for a 6-point vintage Fender style trem and go from there. Without a previous trem route getting in the way.

That one's in particularly good nick! Because those have such a thin finish, most are pretty marked up 35 years later.

Someone stashed it under the bed no doubt.

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

I still have my "fake" Roadstars, they're every bit as good as a real one, without the crummy bridge issues. Plus I think the neck pocket is Fender-compatible.

That also looks like a good one as a base for a standard 6-point trem.

^^ Yeah, those are pretty snazzy.

Blue Blazer with steel trem, matching headstock. Not sure about the blue pickups. But a good guitar (to put it mildly) for the ~350 or so it will cost.

Mm, pass. Power Rocker trem - puny block and iffy tuning stability. Otherwise good. Those were funky, they also came in red, yellow and green all with matching pickups.

Prefer this :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Ibanez...293?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463b34711d

Unusual 1987 model (410) - modern headstock, lack of notched horns, EMG: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vinatge-Iba...up-RARE-80s-/271881935387?hash=item3f4d6d1a1b.

Blue 2nd gen SSS Blazer with steel trem. One with brass trem just ended in France, didn't see it.

Mr Pretty in cherry sunburst for a reasonable price, also one obligatory saddle screw missing (they sound better removing all of them anyway):

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

The blue Blazer is the biz - wonder if that's a QP in the middle...

The second generation Blazers from the mid 90s are pretty cool too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-IBANEZ...d&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=271885619305&rt=nc

Black one. Haven't seen such an example before: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ibanez-blaz...10?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_71&hash=item33a351ffd2

'86 RG 530. Nice but silly price.

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

Somebody please orpheo me on that BL300. If the bidding stays around where it is I will have problems @home. I'm already hiding the Rickenbacker bass.

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

If it stays that low, I might.

Right now, I'm in negotiations (both with myself, and the seller) about buying a US made SUB MusicMan...

1985 RS-525: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-198...ric-Guitar-Professionally-Setup-/151782361951
Good price on this one, stock apart from knobs, even has the original boomerang strap buttons. I have one of these and it's a really good guitar. Trem is useless but screw it down agains the body and you're in action. Original trem arms are hard to come by but Edge arm fits right in.

An actual 1979 Roadster (they were renamed to 'Roadstar' in 1980): http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Ibanez...er-MIJ-Japan-RARE-FREE-SHIPPING-/281780230313. The neck is mounted with hex bolts going into threaded inserts in the neck; cool idea but I guess it was ditched to save $$ in the scheme of mass production.

Not called a Roadstar but has the DNA :): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-198...Japan-28680-/221760713494?hash=item33a1f7f316. Overpriced but considered by many to be a Soloist killer. 5 piece maple/walnut neck through, alder wings, ebony board, two ways of selecting pups - sequentially with blade or individually with buttons.
