Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

1985 RS-525: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-198...ric-Guitar-Professionally-Setup-/151782361951
Good price on this one, stock apart from knobs, even has the original boomerang strap buttons. I have one of these and it's a really good guitar. Trem is useless but screw it down agains the body and you're in action. Original trem arms are hard to come by but Edge arm fits right in.

I am GASing I had that exact guitar in my old metal band. I should have never sold it.

Don't fight it, man ;).

Often wish some of these Roadstars would get revived, kind of like they've been doing with the 550s - taking the best of the old and adding a few contemporary touches.

If I didn't already own one it would be automatic for me to pull the trigger. Not that it is making it easier not to buy it knowing how it sounds and plays.

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

The only problem I have with those is the 24 fret neck. IIRC they don't interchange with regular necks and of course they put the neck pickup into the "wrong" position.

99% similar to my "Hondo" roadstar, and ready to cut up for a different tremolo (or just use the Schaller it has now)
I've seen these even cheaper at used stores, and the Bay since nobody remembers "Mako" guitars. Even though they're made in the same factory that the Ibanezes were...

I'm still lovin' my Formula, I haven't changed anything on it other than the strings. It's light, sounds GREAT, stays in tune perfectly, and the neck feels great (other than not being Tru-=oil, but I don't wanna take it apart to change that, cause I'm having so much fun with it the way it is.

Oh and I agree about the "thin finish", since I've put about 8 nicks in it since getting it this spring.

Purple heyyz! You don't see too many of those. What bridge pu have you got in it?

The neck pocket is also longer on the 24 fretters, joint starts around the 16th-17th fret.

Possible that on the 1986 models they moved the neck pu even closer to the bridge in order to avoid the cracking of the wood between the two routes.

Nice BL550 here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Blaz...de-in-Japan-/231663338672?hash=item35f03604b0.

The bridge is a 498T yes I know not everyone's cup of tea but I love them. I have 498Ts in 3 different guitars and they all sound great. It really barks in that Roadstar II.

RS530 (locking trem, 24 frets HH) for a great BIN price:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Road...-Humbuckers-/252101106219?hash=item3ab2659a2b

6-point trem blazer in blue (I think it has the brass trem):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Ibanez...tallic-Blue-/161834615030?hash=item25ae1840f6

Hacked up BL300 with a Kahler. Needs new pickguard:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Blazer-Series-Electric-Guitar-/161834989837?hash=item25ae1df90d

The last one I would actually scoop up for a realistic price. The Kahler is surface-mounted, so nothing prevents you from routing it for a Fender 6-point.

Holy ****. I always wanted one of those reverse bursts. Thanks! Well unless I get divorced over this, then not I suppose. I better have that sent to the office...

Re: Vintage Ibanez Blazer/Roadsters heads-up thread

Seen at Music Go ROund, Roseville MN- unknown Roadstar (everything's been sanded down and shot with clear) This one has a set of "Quarter Pounders" and some extra switches (phase/series/parallel would be my guess) It played REALLY well and sounded good, too... I just didn't have the $300 they were asking for it or I woulda gotten it myself.
