Vintage no-name tube amp

I picked up this old amp at a flea market a few months ago. All tube head, two 12" Jensens in the cab, I thought that for 120€ it was worth the risk : retro GAS got the better of me. Sorry about the quality of the pics, I need a new digital camera but I prefer buying gear...

As you can see, the power tubes were shot, so that was the first thing I changed. It's loud and the sound is warm, but it hums badly, so the filter caps are going to have to be replaced before it gets any serious use. The tremolo circuit doesn't seem to work either, although that may just be a switching problem. Three inputs, each with its own gain, one with tremolo for guitar, one for bass and one for another instrument, and common bass and treble controls. It was made in France and looks like it was inspired by 60s Fender circuitry : a GZ32 rectifier, two 6L6 power tubes, four 12AX7 and one 12AT7 preamp tubes. Before I take it to a tech, I thought I'd ask what you make of it : what might it be a clone of (Bassman, Tremolux...) ? What mods might be interesting ? The fact that it's not hand wired would limit the possibilities, I imagine... I also heard that on a Bassman it's possible to link the channels together, but I'm not sure how, nor what the exact result would be (more gain, or rather gain at lower volumes would be good). Thanks for your input.

Re: Vintage no-name tube amp

you're fortunate, in that it uses common tubes, so start with that

you're unfortunate, in that it's not handwired, which most likely means any additional problems are best left to a tech

early Bassmans could be jumpered, yes, but blackface and later no, as the channels are out of phase - you'd need an ABY switch with a phase reversal, like the Framtone

I'd advise against spending a lot of money on this though - limit it to new tubes and filter caps and see how it sounds

those signal caps look like Mustards - if so DON'T change them, they'll be worth a tidy sum if I'm right
