vintage rails neck

just installed VR Neck in my Strat. Beautiful sound, but the output difference between it and my cool rails middle pup is a lot more than i expected. by the audio and graphics in pup selector section, it seems there should only be a slight difference in volume. ok my question is, i noticed that the directions for wiring wire colors was not the same as the cool rails that was in neck before, but i did it like the diagram showed... is it possible that i have wired it for split or something? it seems about half the output of the cool rails and that doesnt seem right. any suggestions much appreciated

Personally I'd just switch the two, what's in the bridge?

well i had cool rails in neck before, it was too dark and muddy for me. i have lil 59er in the bridge and cool rails in middle

Cool Rails muddy? Sounds like a wiring issue to me.

You can't split a Vintage Rails...only 3 of the strings would work.

It's a rather thick pickup in the neck to my ears. Not necessarily muddy but thick.

Yeah, it doesn't sound thick to me either, but there are plenty of instances where I hear things that others don't , so I trust your experiences.

so i am wondering two things ...why is the recommended wire color config diffetent from the cool rails or lil59, and is there another possible cause (wiring or other) for such low output? i think it is not giving the output it should relative to the others, i.e., the difference is larger than the demos on this websites comparison section. wondering what i am missing

If you're talking about the Vintage Rails, it's meant to be wired in parallel hence the different color configuration.

right which is why its so much lower in output. you can wire the newer models in series which may suit you better.
