My friend has a really old SG im not sure what year it is and i've looked
at different sites, and cant find it. its Brown Sg with black covered pickups, has a Bigsby tremalo, and the pickup switch is duel...there are to switches like lightswitches that go verticle, sliding up and down from neck/bridge. if anyone has a clue what model and year this is please tell me.

Re: Vintage SG

The electronics do not sound like it is original. As far as I know SG's were only made with a standard selector switch. If it has other types of switches I don't think they are original. I could be wrong. The easiest way to check the age is to use a book. I think George Gruns books are excellent. If you do not have access to a book for dating the guitar, check the pots. The pots have manufaturing dates on them This will only help you if the pots are original. I am going to guess and say it sounds like a modified mid 70's to early 80's SG.
